Title: Any Image Manipulation (image Resize) Prog ?
Post by: nilch on January 13, 2005, 04:57:47 pm
is there any Image manipulation program (particularly image resize) for the zaurus which will work on a batch of photos together ?

Even a command utility would come in handy when you want to resize those super large Digital pics on the CF from the camera to resize over to smaller 640x480 sized pics to store on the Zaurus. Hence the batch process utility needed.

But I guess even a pic-by-pic resizer will do...
The default Imaging software has en edit feature with rotation etc but no resize at all.

Hey,

try ImageMagick. I don't know if it's available on Zaurus but it should!

www.imagemagick.org

Much fun

ImageMagick is apparantly available on the Zaurus in part.

Link (http://www.robfisher.net/zaurus/)

You probably want to look at the convert and mogrify commands out of this cross-compile.

Great - initially I thought that must be for the PDAXROM, but this is good. Will give it a try.

On my Linux desktop I use the command line GIMP command to resize my picture before uploading or tranfering to the Zaurus, but a similar utility on the Zaurus would be great.

Thanks guys

The Convert and Mogrify ImageMagick command work like a charm for the task I needed - batch process Image files and convert the sizes to a smaller 640x480 size.

Together with Identify command, I have cooked up a shell script to process my images from the Camera CF and copy them instantly to the SD on my Zaurus where the images are resized depending on wether they are in portrait or landscape mode (thats where Identify comes in handy).

Thanks for all those who gave me the hints about Imagemagick.

Look on ELSI for Visual Q. It is quite a nice gui graphics editor. It allows selecting a range and clipping (cropping) to that range, adjusting brightness, contrast, gamma, rotating, mirroring, resizing, quite a few nice filters, like blur, sharpen, mosaic, swirl, and emboss. And it supports jpeg, png, bmp, tiff, and some other file formats. It also has a "batch" selection on the file menu, which I presume allows batch processing of some sort. I just found it last night, so I don't know the program extremely well. But I sure like what I see.

It works on the sl-6000 in portrait or landscape. The japenese author of the program has made a nice effort at translating his webpage and the software.

I tried Visual Q before. The problem is (as with other Z programs) that it cannot load such big pictures. I tried the jpgs from my 5 megapixel digicam and it couldn't load the pics.
