Title: Xroadmap
Post by: cpuffer_zaurus on January 15, 2005, 11:28:41 am
I would like to get this working. But it is going to take me a few days to move though the process. I am considering offering a bounty if that would be of interest. It looks like being a somewhat easy port because it is already working in a number of platforms including QT.

xroadmap can be found at:
XRoadMap HomePage (http://roadmap.digitalomaha.net/)

Well, you can start by giving a url.

Also try to search for map in these forums....there is a gtkroadmap.

No such luck, it wants to run, but setup is not will documented so it may take some time figure it out.

I am having trouble with my X86 attempts also. It seems to expect files stored in specific places. But the locations are not clear to me, yet.

The documentation that comes with the latest RoadMap release has been improved, in the sense that it tries to explain what files are used by RoadMap and where. Also some files that were missing in the distribution have been added.

Do not hesitate to ask questions on roadmap@saignon.net, the "official" RoadMap email list. Feedback is welcome.

Thanks.

Pascal.

I've started on this application, but I'm currently trying to resolve an issue with compiling ImageMagick which is required for XRoadmap to build properly.  I'm going to tweak the default file locations to make it easier to add your own maps.  I'll try and include some good samples to go by as well.

Is it what you want ?

Compiled it but I don't have a GPS to test it. Please try. You need RC12.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

BTW, please tell me whether it is working and which GPS device you are using.

I'll give it a shot. haven't used the usb>serial>gps setup in pdaxrom yet, so any meaningful response might take awhile.
Thanks!

I just got a new C1000, and I'm trying out pdaXrom, so I'm kind of late to the party.

You need to have the map files installed.  I tried putting them in /root/share/roadmap (the Familiar instructions seemed to say to put them there), but it couldn't find them unless I started roadmap from the directory the maps were in.

I haven't tried flite support yet -- on the Sharp ROMs it only works once, then hangs.  I hope it works better in X.

btw -- when I invoke roadmap from the directory the maps were in, it started right up.  It looks nicer than the Sharp ROM version, but the functionality is about the same.

Ok -- I couldn't wait until I got home.  I had to install flite here at work to see how it works.

It's great.  You click on something, and it tells you what you selected.  Now I can't wait for my USB GPS to show up so I can try to get that working too.

I'm very happy with pdaXrom so far (I've been running it for about 3 hours).
