Title: Ssh Problems
Post by: otciii on January 24, 2005, 12:33:57 am
Hey guys,

I have a good one for you.  I just re-flashed to the new oz 3.5.2 with the opie environment, and I am having a hell of a time ssh-ing into the zaurus from my desktop.  I asked a friend of mine locally and he recommended setting a password for root.  I did that (passwd in console) and that still didn't work.  So then I tried to install all of the ssh packages under package manager.  I installed them all to the SD card, and still I cannot ssh into the machine.

When I try to, through secure shell on my XP machine, I type in the zaurus' ip address, root for the username and hit connect.  Then, I think it connects, and asks me for a password.  Now, I try the password that I changed the root password too, and hit ok, as soon as I hit OK a screen comes up and says:

 "Server responded connection closed:
the connection to the remote host was lost.  This usually means the network connection has terminated or that the remote host computer was rebooted.  Most network outages are short, so trying again may help."

Well, ssh is full of shit, because trying again doesn't help at all.

Someone help,

THanks

I haven't had the problem, but maybe your sshd_config file is set not to let root login.  Did you try logging in as zaurus?

I get that message when I try to use the ssh client from ssh.com; using putty (or ssh under Linux) all works fine, I'd be interested to know what's causing the error though.

Cool thanks man, I will try that, because I am using the client from ssh.com.  I will try putty and let you know what happens.

Ok, putty did the trick.  I wonder why the ssh client from ssh.com doesn't work, but oh well.  Also, I am having a new problem, this time with opera 7.3.

I read this thread https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showt...92;.shared_null (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=9470&hl=_7qstring\.shared_null)

and that guy had similiar problems, but the solution did not work for me.

I tried the ipkg-link, then I tried this
ln -s /opt/QtPalmtop/opera /usr/share/opera
and it said that that link was already in place, and I am still getting the same error message

root@collie:/mnt/card/opt/QtPalmtop/bin#  symbol lookup error: opera: undefined symbol: _7QString.shared_null

thanks

You need to run makecompat on the opera binary. This error is what happens if you don't.

Either do it from the command line as in the thread you linked, or use the GUI interface (on the Settings page).

I assume you have installed the compat packages: opie-sh, oz-compat and oz-compat-opie from the feed.
