Title: How To Play Ogg Music File On C3000?
Post by: shreks on January 25, 2005, 11:28:48 am
I found out that on my new Zaurus SL-C3000, the music player can only play MP3 format. I am wondering if there is way to play OGG format? 'coz I heard that the sound quality of OGG is better than MP3. Thanks!

You can use TkcPlayer from TheKompany.rom (not free), or I heard that you can use the old mediaplayer from SL5xxx with the libvorbis (not tested by myself)

Anyone happen to know if tkcPlayer works for C3000?  Their product page seems to indicate that they have a version for the Cxxx/6000, but don't specifically say the either the 3000 or 1000 (Cxxx vs Cxxxx)

I may be slow and the only one who doesn't inherently know this, but I think it's worth saying that mplayer supports ogg vorbis without the need for plugins.  I figured that out while following the below thread and researching lastest packages and such.  The package mentioned in the post referenced below not only makes a darn spiffy video player, but the same player supports ogg vorbis.

The music player seems to use a plugin architecture. /opt/QtPalmtop/plugins/music has libslwmaplugin.so which I'm guessing allows for the WMA playback, seems like it should be possible to create a "libsloggplugin.so" but I don't see one anywhere.

Guess I'll have to install XMMS, which I wouldn't mind except that I bought the headphones with the remote control and I undetstand they only work with the Sharp music player...grrrr...

tkcPlayer works on the C1000, so I can see no reason why it won't work on the C3000

I'm using the version I brought for my C760 before it died.

1°) Yes TkcPlayer works on C3000
2°) You can play ogg files with Mplayer but I think you have to launch it in console mode  not really comfortable.

Works ok with zplayer. Installed the implayer pkg from here:

[a href=\"http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&u=http://atty.jp/%3FZaurus%252Fmplayer&prev=/search%3Fq%3Datty%2Bmplayer%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26c2coff%3D1%26safe%3Doff]http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=e...D1%26safe%3Doff[/url]

and followed the link to get zplayer also. Looks like it's all set for playing .mp3 and .ogg files.
