When starting opera 7.30 from the zug feed I get this error regardind several ini files.
Anyone know where I can find those files, or know of a suitable workaround? I've sucessfully used opera 6 on oz 3.5.2 but css really sucked and I wanted to try a newer version.
I read in a previous thread on this topic that installing 7.3 over 6 could help, but I could not make ipkg comply with that. It kept insisting that 6 was current and already installed, so I deleted 6 and started with a fresh install of 7.3 If you have opera 7.3 working please post your output for me. Thanks.
$ opera
/opt/QtPalmtop/bin/opera

I also had this error before I use the oz-compat library
(nobody answer me @ that time, and I don't know what's going on LOL, I am a noob, noob noob )

I had a link in place left over from opera 6. So I deleted it and re linked after installing opera 7.3. Still no luck.
Mahoro, if opera 7.3 works for you, could you start it from the command line by invoking opera and post the output for me. That might be helpful. Thanks

I think your problem might be the difference in directory structure between sharp standard rom and oz rom.
It works fine on my 5500 with sharp rom 3.13.
I'm guessing it was packaged to install to the standard sharp rom directory structure.

It's been a while since I installed, but I think this is the spell you need to cast:
ln -s /opt/QtPalmtop/opera /usr/share/opera
If not, search the forum for one of those .ini file names and the answer is in one of the resulting threads (that's how I find it each time I re-install)

It works now after linking those directories. The problem lay with the old fix for opera 6, where you only link the button directories, not the whole opera directory. Thanks, I can't wait to try it out!

thanks x86daddy- I now have icons on the toolbar so i can see what i'm doing.

Where did you find an *.ipk for Opera 7.3?
I'd like to give it a try as well.
thx,

I had to use the google cache of http://zaurususergroup.com/feed (http://zaurususergroup.com/feed). If that does not work for you I can attach the ipk to a PM.

It seems that no matter how I attemp to run Opera 7.3 I get a bus error when I execute it.
Any ideas?

Try re downloading/reinstalling it. Usually when I get a bus error it is because something was wrong with the file.
Hope that solves it!!!

Yup. That was it.

I was wondering if someone could add some input as to what is the best opera to run on the zaurus (5500). I currently have 7.55 and it seems fine.
What are the main differences between 7.3 and 7.55? Would I be better to downgrade to 7.3?
Thanks for any help you guys me be able to provide.
Oh and im using a slightly modified 7.55 so it works with OZ

Stick with 7.55. That's what I use on my 5500. Everything works great on it.

What do you need to mod to get 7.55 to run on oz? The directory structure is really screwed up. I am assuming that is a sharp rom thing.

Nevermind, figured it out.
