hmm,

Are you logged in as root?

Is there a startx  in /usr/X11R6/bin?
(ls -al /usr/X11R6/bin)

maybe only PATH has been compromised?

Hi pgas,

Thanks ... I search for "startx" but it is missing ... really sad about it ... some ipkg upgrade must have removed it :-( ... searching again for it with "startx*" it found startx.old ... *ups* who did this ?

starting it everything works ... I hope ... renaming it to startx :-)

Happy again ... not really because of this stupid little error ...

THANKS
Martin

hmm, what update are you talking about, I tried an ipkg update, everything is up to date, I haven't done this since this post of Laze:this post of Laze (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=9605&st=30&p=59327&#entry59327)

In this post he instruct to stop X before calling ipkg upgrade from the command line.

If have you run upgrade from X, then the package manager may had some problems to modify files in use.

(OK I admit that these upgrade instructions should perhaps be more visible and be on the pdaxrom.org page)

I just did this from the command prompt and it hozed my startx too. Also blew away my wlan settings but that was easily fixed when I got X running again.

hmm, I don't understand why my package are all up to date. I did

********** EDIT **********

ok, I solved my mystery, I didn't bother to set the correct date/time after a reboot, and
the date was 16 Jan, which prevent ipkg to see update ( why i don't know).

After setting my date correctly, it did upgrade the packages, with the pbs.

We updated the ipkg feed recently - both it looks like there might be some problems related to it - we are looking into it right now..

It's hosed my X and my wlan settings AND my wlan access altogether. cardctl ident reports a card but it's not working as a wifi card anymore. Ergo I'm left without a useful Z

Hi,

I have a same problem as you.

Can anybody write me, what exactly have I to write into wireless.opts ?
I have ASUS WL-110
product info: "ASUS" , "802_11B_CF_CARD_25", "Version 01.00", ""

I can start X, but I can not run Wifi-lan setting in GUI.

Thanks

I managed to get my wifi working again simply by running the wifi-lan GUI and setting the default mode as WiFi and saving the profile. If you can't even run the GUI then I don't know how you'll go about doing it. Sorry.
