Title: Can you overclock/underclock a Zaurus?
Post by: KwaiFeh on January 10, 2004, 01:37:51 pm
I was browsing software and i found out that certain palms  can be overclocked/underclocked through software.  For example there is lightspeed (www.clievideo.com).

Rather than speeding up the processors (which i doubt i\'ll require), i was thinking more on the lines of underclocking to improve battery life.

Thanks.

Yup, which Zaurus do you have? The SL-5500 has this ability in the standard kernel. You just need to install this: http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=827 (http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=827) and this http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=872 (http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=872)

The later Zaurus models need to have a special kernel installed to give access to the CPU register that increases/descreases speed. There isn\'t a GUI for these at the moment though, but I\'m sure it would be easy for someone to write one or edit QOverclock.

Tumnus,
Thanks. as surprising as it may sound... i don\'t have one... yet. I´m still debating about 7x0/8x0 or 6000.  This wait for the 6000 is unbereable.
