Title: Small Squares In Some Apps
Post by: gherkin on January 26, 2005, 04:59:44 pm
Hi,

I have an SL-C3000 with the standard Sharp ROM converted to English using the Conics converter.

I have some small square boxes that appear in some apps. They look like left overs from the conversion. Any ideas how to get rid of these ?

Thanks,

Douglas.

I assume you mean square boxes in menus rather than text input areas.

The square boxes are generally Japanese characters that can't be displayed because the font doesn't contain them. This is a problem with the conics conversion. Depending on the app ypu may or not be able to get rid of them - what apps have this problem?

If the squre boxes are red and in text input areas then you have switched to Japanese input mode (hit the Japanese key closest to the space bar and it should change to Enlgish input. (A little A should show on the toolbar when you are in Enlgishh mode, if you get a squiggly circle thingy (hiragana A) then you are in Japanese mode
