Title: Calendar W/ Recurring Appts.
Post by: chrisbryan on January 27, 2005, 03:53:57 pm
Hello all,

I'm having fun with my 5000, but I really need to find a calendar that will schedule recurring events!  I did find zCalendar, but it won't launch after I install in using the "hybrid" ROM.  Does anyone know why this could be?  Can anyone recommend another calendar?

Have you considered using KO/Pi? It handles reoccurring events very well. You can even delete one item at a time if you want.

Are you wanting to sync the calendar you choose with your desktop too? Which app are you using? Qtopia Desktop or another one?

I looked at KO/Pi's website, btu I assumed it didn't, since KOrganizer doesn't.  I'll go check it out!

Syncing would be nice... but I'm more concerned right now to just get something to work   I hae a linux box, so I guess I would use QTopia.  But again, that's a secondary concern.

Thanks for the feedback!

OK, so the problem was I was using an old verion (1.0.0)!  I just installed 1.7.8, and I see the recurring feature.

However, I'm noticing some bizarre behavior, for instance when I enter an appointment, it won't remember the starting and ending times.  Was I wrong in thinking that it was a stable release?  I'll keep fiddling...

uhmm, just at the top of my head, I use the 680, and Ko/PI is at 1.9.20.   I think you don't have the latest/best software in your possession. try the newer version of Ko/pi.  unless that is the case for the the 5K's?

Chris,

Version 1.0...? Not sure if you have the correct version. Take a look at some of the threads on KO/PI in this software forum.

Information about KO/PI is available from [a href=\"http://pi-sync.net]http://pi-sync.net[/url]. The files themselves are located at Source Forge (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=104103&package_id=112604).

Looks like Zautrix released version 2.0 yesterday! It's available for Windows XP/2000, ME, SUSE linux, and the Z. I"ve used it on my 5500 and 6000 without any trouble.

There are instructions included to have syncing between the desktop and the Z. The easiest thing I've found is to save a backup file and then FTP it to the Z and sync with a local file.

Hope it works for you!

Ah ha! I think I figured out where some of the confusion was coming from. The Source Forge project page lists KO/PI *and* KDE PIM/PI. The standalone version of KO/PI is at 1.7.8.

Take a look at KDE PIM (now at version 2.0). I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
