Title: Gpsdrive Installation
Post by: unplug on February 01, 2005, 12:24:38 am
I have been searching on google for a feed or instructions to install GPSDrive in my Z6000 but no go. Since I already bought a HaiCom H303S GPS receiver, I really want to make it work on Z. Can anyone shed some light on how to install GPSDrive? Basically, the readme from GSPDrive does not help much because I can't find all required packages. Thanks.

I gave up on GPSDrive and tried qpegps, works like a charm.

So do you have text to speach on your Z  using qpegps? How useable is it while driving?

no, I don't have text to speach. I have been testing it around my town in PA. I will have a real test next week when I travel to FL. I don't know how to add waypoint yet, but if I am lost, I know where I am.

Here is some information that might be helpful.
downmap from maptuit using getmaps (http://z-soft.z-portal.info/getmaps/) because the font on their maps is better than expedia. Also use your linux box to download map and use card reader to load the map to sd or cf
the scale of 1:20000 seems to be good
