I built OZ 3.5.2 enviroment yesterday and I can build newer version of packages to place them in "upgrades" feed.
Which ones you want?
Few rules:
1. package MUST already exist in OpenEmbedded
2. it has to be package - I won't build whole OPIE
Currently I have some ready:
- kdepim/pi 2.0.1
- qpdf2
- opie-qasteroids
- opie-parashoot
- dropbear 0.44
-
opie-packagemanager, gpsd, and cumulus please.
-
There isn't any update to IRK upstream, is there? I cannot for the life of me get 0.11.1 to work for me on 3.5.2--any chance of building it so it doesn't require oz-compat?
-
after 3.5.2 we splitted irk 0.11 to two packages:
irk 0.11-belkin
irk 0.11-targus
one is original upstream, other is patched
-
How about qtella (http://qtella.sourceforge.net/sharp.php) and nethack (http://www.linux-solutions.at/projects/zaurus/games-Nethack.html) plus nethack sounds? (http://www.linux-solutions.at/projects/zaurus/games-Nethack-Sounds.html) That would be awesome.

um.... which one is which ?

It would be greatly appreciated if you could build the latest version of glibc. It would hopefully help all of us out over here (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=9242).

You forgot my rule #1 :)
ofcourse I can add them - but first You have to add them into OpenEmbedded.
-
Added some bugfixes:
- cumulus 1.2
- dropbear 0.44 (few bugfixes)
- gpsd 2.6
- irk 0.11-targus (original 0.11 version)
- irk-belkin (Targus support replaced by Belkin support)
- justreader (config was not saved)
- kdepim/pi 2.0.1
- opie-packagemanager (built-in ipkg-link, other fixes)
- opie-parashoot (pics was missing)
- opie-qasteroids (pics was missing)
- qpdf2 (SIGSEGV on startup)

glibc is too important package to change it via upgrades.
Use OE to build any OZ based distribution and help to improve development packages (afaik noone from OE team use OE generated systems to do development on them).
-
Abuse
It is kinda there, I just never got it to work in Opie (Or GPE for that matter).
Or is this just a non-working package?
-
I think getting the PIM stuff completely bullet proof on the SL-Cxxx range so that it doesn't pop up at 320x240 in the middle of the screen when you wake up the Z with the application buttons would be one of the things that I would be looking for.
I would like to make the switch and contribute... contributions may be a little sporadic though and don't want to have to fix that one first.... I'm sure it's not a trivial issue because it's been hanging around quite a while.
<update>Doh!, sorry should have read the first part of this message, well parhaps someone else that has an idea on the part of OPIE that may fix this issue is listening</update>

zbedic would be top of my list....

Thanks for updating us on these packages. I would not have been aware of your contributions otherwise !
-
Thanks for the updates. Now gpsd seems to run a bit better. At least qpegps doesn't lose the connection immideatly. Could you please update qpegps also?
Maybe then i can get my GPS-Card finally doing somethin guseful :-)
-
Added:
- qpegps 0.9.2.2
- zbedic 20041227
- streamripper 1.61.3
-
Can you add opie-tetrix? - fixed layout for large screens.
Thanks!

I for one would really like to see XMame working. I tried building it for the 6k from OpenEmbedded a while ago, and discovered a problem in the makefile/patches, but it still wouldn't run; maybe it's happier now.
Also, ScummVM wasn't working well for the 6k. I did get it compiled and running from OE, but the digitizer was not rotated to match the screen.

I couldn't figure out if new versions were available, but other than kdepim/pi
(Am I correct in assuming this includes kapi, kopi and kphone/pi?)
the two applications that I would like updated are opiemail and konqueror.
Both of these seem a bit unstable in the current (3.5.2) versions.
-
For neither opiemail nor konqueror are updates available. Opiemail is a bit stalling at the moment and the konqueror team abandonded Qt 2.x long ago.
-
Hi, want to ask if you could add "dsniff " to the new Release. Its a great network sniffer.
Many Thx
-
Sorry, i didn't mean the next release, just the update. The Package of dsniff must be available.

Pity, Is there any reason to think about open embedded packages for om/pi, or is it likely to suffer the same lack of activity?
On a slightly related topic, any chance of an update for kphone/pi? Apparently 0.9.9
is available. Currently we have 0.9.7
-
Added:
- kphonepi 0.9.9
- opie-tetrix
om/pi won't be packaged - too many conflicts with libetpan/upstream and libmailwrapper/OPIE
-
Newer versions of anything with the word 'bluetooth' in them would be good. I reckon I must have spotted about half a dozen bugs in various apps, particularly the bluetooth manager...
-
i would like to have dsniff also =D
-
Bugfixes:
- opie-securityplugins (were installed wrong)
- libao (plugins was missing)
Added:
- dsniff

Hi,
the qplot package does not contain correct dependencies.
1) It should depend on bc.
2) Even when one installs bc, qplot tries to find the 'bc' executable
it in the wrong directory.

Is there a package that will work with the original pocketop keyboard, because for the life of me I can't get it to work on my SL-5600.
-
Hrw,
Any chance you could re-package the *-help-en packages? They all have a broken dependency ("opie-help-en"), which AFAIK doesn't exist. Alternately, I guess you could also add opie-help-en if it exists. . .
Thanks for your hard work. . .
-
Added "opie-help-en" 1.1.9 into "upgrades".
@zullinux:
give us a patch if You can or more exact infos (where is search for bc, does it work if found bc etc).
@double_d
any should work for You

I'm stiill not able to supply a patch... sorry but I started playing with bitbake only a few days ago and I still cannot figure out how to use the .bb files pertaining to oz3.5.2 instead of more recent ones supplied in openembedded-snapshot.
Here is a more detailed description of what happens:
1) If you install qplot alone (i.e. without bc) when it starts it simply
seg-fault without even starting.
It is trying to spawn bc from either "/opt/QtPalmtop/bin/" or "/opt/Qtopia/bin"
as can be seen issuing "strings /opt/QtPalmtop/bin/qplot"
2) when you install bc unfortunately bc is installed in the wrong place. so a simlink is
needed to make it work
3) wrong news is that I tried this procedure on a "freshly installed oz 3.5.2" and it keeps
seg-faulting (it used to work last week)
Thanks

Hi!
Great work!
Could you upgrade vpnc to version >=0.3.2? vpnc-homepage (http://www.unix-ag.uni-kl.de/~massar/vpnc/)
I need this version to connect to a cico-vpn, and prior versions don't work.
Thanks

Added:
- vpnc 0.3.2

Dosbox?
I keep getting errors.
Oh, I'm sure that "Broken = 1" line is there for a reason.
Those bb files are such a tease.
-
Just as a question, I thought that Nethack was in the OpenEmbedded feed at one point or another? It is listed as opie-nethack. Just curious as to what happened. EDIT: Forget it, I'm assuming that he made it for Opie, but never included it in OE.
-
@Hrw
I just wanted to thank you for your ongoing efforts here @ ZUG and in OpenEmbedded. They are most appreciated

That's a pity - OM/Pi really is much more useable than opiemail - particularly if you're using the rest of kdepi/pi. Are there any other mail alternatives?

Zautrix provides KDEpimpi including kopiemail for OZ. It is not as well integrated to the OE framework, but from the users perspective you should have the choice Here we go:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/kdepimp...pk.zip?download (http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/kdepimpi/kdepim_2.0.11_for_OZgcc3xx.ipk.zip?download)
Install first libsssl from OZ feed, if it is'nt installed. Then install kmicrokdelibs. Then install kopiemail. For kopiemail you maybe need the option force-depends to install.
It runs on my Z with 3.5.2 (hentges cardfs), but I didnt tested it on my mail accounts.

but I didnt tested it on my mail accounts
seems to work on my pop3 acct. Also seems to be much more usable/featurefull than opiemail.

I was a little confused at first, since I believe there was an OZ version of microkdelibs installed on my sl5500. A
ipkg -force-overwrite install kmicrokdelibs_2.0.11_for_OZgcc3xx_arm.ipk
proved neccessary to get the kmicrokdelibs_2.0.11_for_OZgcc3xx_arm.ipk from the sourceforge zipfile installed. After that kopiemail installed and ran smoothly except for the "kopiemail.desktop" being installed to /mnt/card/opt/QtPalmtop/apps/Pim rather than /mnt/card/opt/QtPalmtop/apps/1Pim
Thanks for suggestion. Hope my post is helpful and doesn't merely further the hijack.

Thx CoreDump - it's nice to get feedback not only from developers but also from users.
Handling OpenZaurus is a fun/hobby for me - but who knows where it will go :)
-
Yeah, OZ rules all, thanks for doing that!
Now, there's opie-today-fortuneplugin, but it has "fortune-mod" as a dependency which can't be resolved. I don't know if there's an OE package for that (how do I find out without having a working installation of OE or bitbake?), but maybe you could look into that? Thanks
Cheers
Philipp
-
fortune-mod was broken in OE hence it didn't make it into the feed. I'm working on it atm.

Thanks hrw - I just need to reflash my 6310i now to make use of it
Is there any chance of having gpe-soundbite at all, or is it only for opie apps that you are creating ipks?
Best regards,
Dez.
-
I don't want to create any packages when we have OZ 3.5.3 near... I will rather spend time on polishing 3.5.3 release.
I can build GPE packages for 3.5.3 upgrades but they will be untested - I use OPIE.
-
added openvpn 2.0rc1

As Openzaurus 3.5.3 has just been released I'm closing this thread at Hrw's request.
