Post by: hubcapboy on February 01, 2005, 06:18:35 pm
OK, so who knows what the deal is with the hitachi branded sl-6000 that showed up on engadget today?

I'll post a link later, my class is starting.

ok gotta love these cartoons:

apparently they aren't QUITE cool enough to get a silver battery or sled:

quick glance, these seem to be accessories available... some are straightforward (SD memory, CF memory, Socket ethernet) but what are "DDI Pockets" and "i-cards?"

OK, here's another link:

This is really interesting. I wonder if it is just a ROM flash away from being a silver 6000L? If both Sharp and Hitachi are selling them, then maybe the OEM could be found and the HW imported for cheaper than these guys want...hmmm...

Could end up being more expensive given the winbloze tax....

would be awsome to be able to dual boot that sucker to PPC to run some apps that arent on the Z

The last time I tried upgradeing the ram in a handheld I ended up having to buy a new one.

Actually I just looked at my pics of the inside of my 6000.  The ram is bga chips.  I don't know of too many people who have the equipment to solder ball grid array chips at home.  I can remove them, with a heat gun, they aren't useable after that, and neither is the board they came off of.  No clue how to attach them...
