Hi Maslovsky,
thank you for the update. Unfortunately my SMC EZ Connect Card (SMC2642W) now isn't recognized at all. When inserting the led goes hi and that's it. Without hotfix it is recognized as Zcomax and is running OK. Using the old hostap_cs.conf with the hotfix also doesn't fix it.

Can you please write how can I fix the problem with Polish keybard? Because unfortunately, after installing 1.22 Hotfix A, the Polish keymap does not work too :-(

Apart from that, the new ROM is great :-)

What exactly doesn't work?  I just checked - Polish keymap loads fine and I can switch between English and Polish. I cannot say if  keymap produces proper characters though...

I think that there's something wrong with the keymap that was inside the ipk of Hotfix a.
There are spaces between the key codes in configuration options.
eg.  there is space (0x20) between 0x2014 and 0x118
[keyboard-fn]
0x2014 0x118 0x119 #q daje e z ogonkiem
0x2017 0x104 0x105 #a daje a z ogonkiem
0   0   0

I see there are TABs (0x09) in other keymaps. And when I copy the English keymap and put the same Polish key codes in [keyboard-fn], but with TABs between them instead of spaces, then it works. Is the cyrillica applet 'sensitive' to spaces?

After installing the hotfix, I found that my WLAN card is not working after a suspend. On a freshly booted Zaurus it works perfect, but when I suspend and resume again and try to connect again, it tries/blinks for approx. 5s and then goes to "Network Offline" (Autoconnect is off). After a reboot everything works again. If I remove my card before suspending and put it back in after resume everything works. It is a Lnksys compatible (manfid: 0x0274, 0x1612)
It was working before the hotfix...

Any hints?

Thanks

When I suspend with my WLAN card still on, the dhcpcd may crash when resuming or a while after resuming. In that case, the PID file still lingers in the /var/run directory. When trying to reconnect, the dhcpcd won't start up. In Qtopia, you see nothing (as usual) except that the network connection applet stops the connection attempt much earlier.

I've modified my /etc/pcmcia/network script to work around the problem: before trying to use dhcpcd, it checks for a stale PID file (for the current interface), tries to kill any left-over process and removes the PID file. These are the particular lines I've added:
Code: [Select]
if [ -f /var/run/dhcpcd-$DEVICE.pid ]; then
    kill `cat /var/run/dhcpcd-$DEVICE.pid` 2>/dev/null
    rm /var/run/dhcpcd-$DEVICE.pid
fi
I've attached the modified script (with .txt extension, because the forum didn't accept it otherwise).

Are there still battery charging issues with the latest Cacko?  I recall reading this in another read, but couldn't find it when I searched.

It seems my Z wants to charge forever.  I finally let it go for a few hours but it still never finished.  By finished I mean the orange light never went green.  When I turn the unit back on the status shows 100%, so why does the light stay orange?  I'm wondering if I should power off and try it w/o the ROM loaded.  I just don't want to overcharge and kill the battery.

I know maslovsky said he had that issue and just let it charge up for however many hours, and after that it seemed to be good.  Anyone else find that to be the case?  I just don't want to kill my unit.

Have a C860 with 1.22A.

Thanks.

First of all, you won't kill your unit or battery. It may only be annoying. What I found out is that if you plug in AC adapter when Zaurus is suspended, then it stops charging when battery is full. Try this with your Zaurus and let me know if it works for you.

I7ve found with my C760 (with Cacko, Sharp and TKC roms) that if I have the unit on when charging with AC adapter it take forever for the LED to turn off (not I've never seen it got green, just orange or off) one time I left my Z on and plugged into the AC adapter, sometime between 20 nad 26 hours (I went out and missed the actual event) the led went out. however as soon as I started using the Z agian, the light came back on.

This experience led me to believe that the Z on max backlight uses just below the power supplied by the ac adapter, if you access the CF, SD, speakers etc then this goes to just over. Meaning the Z will never consider itself fully charged while powered on.

As per maslovsky's reply, if I want it 100% fully charged then I suspend it (this also shortens the charging time dramatically)

I ran into a problem in both 1.22 and 1.22a-lite between Opera and qpdf. Opera associates itself with PDF files which blocks qpdf. To open a PDF file you have to open qpdf first, then browse for the file from there.

To fix it I just removed the pdf mime type from Opera's .desktop file. It seems odd that Opera was associated with PDF, as it doesn't seem to be able to open them. (Every time I try it just gives me a download prompt)

Opera was installed first in both cases.

Another thing about Opera - can you resize the fonts independant of the magnification? On my 5500 I seem to recall being able to set Opera to some small magnification to reduce screen element size while simultaneously boosting the font size for readability.

Hi Maslovsky, thanx for cacko 1.22A, I've tried also OZ and pdaXrom and since I need both Japanese and English support  this rom matches perfectly for me.

But, I've got still a little problem solving this will make mi Z c760 work 100% . I bought a PLANEX GW-CF11X, downloaded the last prism3 drivers from sharp website, with these drivers in the original Sharp ROM everything worked perfectly but in cacko ROM the card is recognized and no led blinks at all, after cardctl status I see that is suspended but it doesn't change its status after cardctl resume, any hint?

Thanx again

Title: Cacko Rom 1.22 Hotfix A Is Available!
Post by: cmhaage on May 23, 2005, 02:05:45 am
Hi,

I am having problems with my C760/Cacko 1.22a and SMC2642W wireless CF card.  Similar to recent posts, the card was recognized using Cacko 1.22, but as a Zcomax card.  Now, under 1.22a, the card is not recognized at all and the activity light on the SMC card goes on and stays on when  the card is inserted.  cardctl ident gives:
Code: [Select]
$ cardctl ident
Socket 0:
   product info: " ", "SMC2642W 11Mbps Wireless Card", ""
   manfid: 0xd601, 0x0005
   function: 6 (network)
Socket 1:
   no product info available

I am using the most current version, hotfix 1.22a.  Please help!

Just added a bug to the DB: you can't have a space in the wireless SSID.

Actually that SSID (space issue) has been known since the beginning.  I'm not sure if it was lack of interest to fix it or because there is no reasonable fix.

At work we have wireless, unfortunatly the SSID has a space, unfortunatly I've been told that changing the ID is too much effort.  Is there a manual way to fix this problem?

I've been able to edit the /etc/pcmcia/wlan-ng.opt file, put the spaces in the DesiredSSID under the profile that the Network GUI created, then change the /var/lib/pcmcia/scheme file to use that profile entry, insert the card, and it worked great.  No 'special' characters were required, the DesiredSSID has quotes around it so the spaces worked just fine. HOWEVER, since the interface comes up by itself, and the Sharp Network tools are *not* involved, the Netfront browser doesn't see that the network is up.  If you try to use the Sharp GUI to bring up the card (which is already running), it doesn't work because of the spaces and puts the /var/lib/pcmcia/scheme back to CardSuspend and turns off the interface.  Seems like a GUI problem,  if there was source it shouldn't be too hard to fix.

Have you had any luck getting your Planex card working?  [a href=\"https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=11933]TechMetal says his is working[/url], but I haven't had been able to get mine working.

Zautrix's got a card that stopped working in 1.22, I'll yell at him so he send you the ID.
