Title: A Use For The Mail Led?
Post by: systemparadox on February 05, 2005, 03:07:11 pm
A few questions...

1. In OZ, what (if anything), makes use of the mail led?
2. Why doesn't zauledsignaliser work? Can it be made to work?
3. Is there an OZ equivalent to zauledsignaliser?
4. Can I make use of the leds in shell scripts? If so, how?

Thanks
Simon

When OZ ships with kernel 2.6 and Opie 1.2.x we will introduce a LED signalling framework so that all LEDs on the device (including the charger) can be used to signalize things from a number of sources.

there are already apps out that will let your Mail LED flash for pinging ...   ie:  it will show you network transfer nifty toy .. but I never used it much. i don't need software taking up memory to show a light

Can I have some more info on what apps use it (and what for), and where I can get them plz?

I think at the moment I would like the mail led to flash when the SD is being used (not sure whether i want it to flash when reading, writing, or both yet), but if there is something more flexible (like zauledsignaliser) that would be better.

Thanks
Simon

Wellenreiter has an option to signal new networks or new network devices by "Blinking LED."  However, on my SL-5500, it doesn't seem to work.  If I choose other alert options like Click or Alarm, those work fine.
