Title: Houdini Applets
Post by: Flandry on February 05, 2005, 04:50:38 pm
I uninstalled the alarmclock program from my Cacko 1.22-based c860, and now there is no time applet, and no network applet.  I imagine this is a matter of fixing a symbolic link that the alarmclock overwrote, but i have no idea what it might be.

How do i get back the little time display?

The link should have been fixes automaticaly after uninstall, but here is how you can do that manualy:

su
ln -sf /usr/QtPalmtop.rom/plugins/applets/libclockapplet.so.1.0.0 /home/QtPalmtop/plugins/applets/libclockapplet.so.1.0.0

Thanks Maslovsky.

Unfortunately, that didn't help.  There's no time applet showing me the time, and it's driving me nuttier.  I'm experiencing enough odd behavior that i'm about ready to just flush this whole install down the digital toilet and reflash.  I thought i gave that up with W2K....

Did you reboot or restart qtopia after replacing the link?

You will need to to get qtopia to see the newly installed applet

You may also need to remake the other symlinks to libclockapplet.so.1.0.0 (s0.1.0, so.1, so) they may have gotten mixed up too, but a reboot usually fixes it.
