Hello,
I've been trying to get a financial app working on my SL-C860.
Here are my results :
monager :
- compiles fine in debian chroot
- only uses qt-libs
- runs fine in chroot and on pdaX !!
- is quite basic - not many options
- could be used as "budget-overview"
kmymoney2 :
- installs in debian chroot
- runs, but sometimes (on suspend ?) locks up the debian chroot (some files and dirs are not tracable any longer until after a reboot ??)
- seems quite full-featured to me
- able to import quicken-files
- screens are set to 800*600 - so quite a lot of dragging screens around
kbudget :
- compiles fine in debian chroot (after installing the right libs and headers)
- more basic than kmymoney2
- screens fit
- runs quite smooth, but sometimes (on suspend ?) locks up the debian chroot (some files and dirs are not tracable any longer until after a reboot ??)
- as it has the same problem as kmymoney2, I think it's kde that locks up the chroot
gnucash :
- installs in debian chroot
- it has a font problem, the startup screen loads all plugins, but then it exits with the message that it has a problem with a font :
The font "-adobe-helvetica-medium-o-normal--*-120-*-*-*-*" does not support all the required character sets for the current local "C"
(Missing character set "ISO8859-1"
Fatal error : cannot load fall-back font -adobe-helvetica-medium-o-normal--*-120-*-*-*-*
Does anyone know how to solve or workaround this font problem - I suppose (hope) it's quite an easy one, but I found a lot of font-dirs and don't know where to start.
Are there any alternative programs - or did I try them all ?
Cheers,
Chero.

I've been trying a few financial apps out on pdaXrom as well. I'm looking for something that can import qif files and work without kde (unless someone's compiled kde for pdaXrom ) . The ones I've found are:
grisbi:
- gtk2 app
- works quite well. Many (but not all) screens fit into 640x480
- fast to start up, but takes up a fair amount of memory (I load up seven years of data though)
- the most annoying thing is that it doesn't remember how wide you set the columns, and they're too narrow at startup
qhacc:
- qt3 app
- quite advanced; has graphing capabilities
- all screens fit
- supports multiple databases (e.g. MySQL, SQLite etc)
- importing qif files can take hours and hours (I had to split them into 1000 lines each, and they each took about 15 mins!)
- slow to start up with lots of data
cbb:
- tk app
- quite basic
- fast startup
- slows down with lots of data
ledger:
- command line interface
- I couldn't be bothered learning it - too much typing!
I have created ipkgs for these if anyone's interested (I can't find instructions on how to upload files to the pdaXrom site)
@chero: could you provide a link to 'monager' please?
I haven't tried any of the apps you suggest because they would be a nightmare to compile for pdaXrom

Forgot to mention, if you don't mind using Java, there's a few Java financial apps out there. The only one I've used it jabp, which is basic but works quite well, although I have some problems with blackdown, notably the up key doesn't work; pressing left and right takes you to the start and end of the line; sometimes new windows are at their absolute minimum size... grr.

danr to upload ipk to the unstable feed contact Laze (mail pm whatever) give him a username/ password and you will be able to login on www.pdaxrom.org

I could mail the binary too (don't know how to create ipk though)

Looking forward to trying these out, please post here when you uploaded them.
Thanks,

I've compiled grisbi for rc8 and rc9. It does work, however when I actually use it (ie. import qif files, change prefs, etc) I end up getting more crashes than are worth the effort. I started chatting with the Grisbi developers sending crash reports, etc but there we're so many I haven't found the time to complete it.
