Hi,
thanks for your time!
I'm torn between a 6000W and an SL-C3000.
The 6000W has it all, except mass storage capacity built-in, and the keyboard is less useful for programmers. However, a big CF or microdrive, and a small laptop-type USB keyboard would solve that.
The C3000 has 3.5GB spare capacity, keyboard and two free card slots but both slots would be used up with wlan and bluetooth (agree not both at the same time).
How to decide between them? Well, a major factor is how much development work is being done for the 6000W because of it's relative scarceness. Does BT and WLAN fully work with English roms? I'm particularly keen to know if WPA works with the wlan, not just WEP.
thanks for your time and thoughts,
Paul

the work on any 6000 will translate, I think. bluetooth drivers should be easily available if all else works out.
microdrive prices are dropping, so that might bring down the price of the 3k.
wer I you, I would count my disposable $$ and buy whtever costs less and does the job.
Remember... you will be buying another one in a couple years...

I think maybe you're right - the 3000 is cheaper by a fair margin over the 6000W or even the 6000L these days. I can cheaply add bluetooth and wlan to a 3000 and still have a neat compact single device with a huge amount of spare capacity, but I can't add a more useable keyboard to a 6000 without ending up with multiple things to carry, even though adding mass storage in the form of gigabyte compact flash cards would be easy.
I'd hope the Z would last me three years - the C3000 could be fitted with a much bigger HDD in future I am guessing. After that I would guess I'd be buying a Z with an OLED display, or maybe even a HUD (head-up-display).

LMAO.... just to add complications there is a thread on zug regarding a possible 6000 dump, and claims that prices are starting to dip on the 6k's. Just thought I'd mention it...

even if there's a 6k dump, it won't be 6000W.
back on topic, all the stuff works on 6000L should be readily for 6000W. English tranlation is as easy as editing the local from jp to en and replacing some of the fonts. You don't need to worry about that at all. I don't think storage is an issue either, since 2G fast CF or 4G microdrive is about $150. Of course add the cost into consideration (-BT -wifi cost) if you're on budget.
The real important issues to be considered are form factors and keyboard. Personally I would pick 6000W no brainer, but I might be biased since I never owned any clamshell z. And even biased by having the sled for 6k
