Title: J -> E Dictionary For English C3000?
Post by: totsubo on February 12, 2005, 11:32:54 pm
I am now the proud owner of a 'english' C3000. I want to use my Zaurus as a japanese to english dictionary.

Can anyone recommend a good japanese to english dictionary (and instructions on how to install it)?

I've found quite a bit of information on this for older Zauri but nothing specific to the C3000.

Also, since I've switched my C3000 to english I seem to have lost the ability to input japanese ...

Thanks!

The C3k comes with one of the best Japanese <-> English dictionaries available.

If you have lost it in the conversion process then you should seriously consider going back to the Japanese version and converting the menus yourself.

Other good options are zten with edict, enamdict, life sci dic or Eijiro (you'll have to pay for this but it's pretty good - although most of the entries are in the C3k multimedia dictionary).

zbedic is also a useful dictionary app, but I haven't found many decent Japanese-English dictionaries for it (most of the zbedic dictionaries are in romanji )

I you want the Japanese input then you are probably best off with the Japanese version, although you may be able to relink the input methods in the englsih conversion

You're right! I never noticed that it had Zdict. Now I just have to figure out how to use it

That and figure out how to get japanese input working.

Thanks!

How did you switch your unit to English? Do you still have the Japanese input methods available, with the problem being that you can't display the fonts (You get little squares instead)?
