any work being done on fixing kernel bugs and creating new rom images?

Not at the moment. Kernel 2.4-jpm is more or less abandoned. We are waiting for a working bootloader-update-image, so we have a sane upgrade path to the handhelds.org bootldr. Then we can release 0.9.0 final. After that, we need to wait until zecke (or anyone else) does more work on kernel 2.6.
