Hi all!
I have had my Zaurus (SL-5500) since 2002, but just yesterday installed OZ 3.5.2... surprisingly without much difficultly.
I really like OZ better than the Sharp Rom. Konqueror works great, BTW. VNC Viewer finally works, and most of the Games I like work...
My question is, however, how do I install packages to my SD card without having to run ipkg-link to place the links into /root?
I can install the packages just fine to a CompactFlash Card, to a SD Card or to RAM, but opie never sees these, until I run ipkg-link and restart opie.
Is there a better way to do this? Is there an option somewhere that says to automatically install links or to look for installed packages on other media?
Thanks,
Chris

This is normal. ipkg-link normally only has to be run once for each package (or mount point if you use 'ipkg-link mount <mount point>' like I do).
This ipkg-link'ing and restarting the GUI was previously performed automatically by aqpkg, but for some reason isn't at the moment. Despite having a memory leak, opie-packagemanager does away with ipkg-link and creates the same symlinks for you automatically when you install a package. I imagine it also does an opie restart when you close the app.

Thanks for the info. However, I am not using aqpkg. I am using opie-packagemanager, clicking on "Actions->Install Local Packages", selecting the package, selecting "SD", and it says something to the effect of:
"Installing.."
"Configuring..."
But no symlinks are created automatically for me.
Interestingly enough, if I use opie-packagemanager to install, then run ipkg-link, then uninstall using opie-packagemanager, packagemanager says "removing links..."
Is there an option somewhere for not allowing opie-packagemanager to install the symlinks automatically?
Thanks,
Chris

Hmm, interesting...
If I install packages from the network (over my 802.11 card) from the feed directly, opie-packagemanager installs the symlinks, but if I download the ipk files to my CompactFlash card, then install the packages to my SD Card... no links...
I think this is a bug...
