I have been working with a C860 for the last half a year doing native development. tomorow my C3000 arives. I found http://www.eleves.ens.fr/home/leurent/zaurus.html for putting debian on a C3000, but I have liked using pdaXrom on my z's so far and would like to stick with it.
I saw someone mention on here they were interested in getting pdaXrom compatable with debian packages, I don't know how many people have an interest in that, but I would be willing to work with others on here to build pdaXrom on top of a standard debian install so we can share the packages they have.
most likely i'm missing a number of important points in this post, so I hope others followups will address them and we can find what interest there is, and start a serious port for the C3000.

Maybe this thread (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=9654) could be interesting ?
You can just launch the debian apps from within pdaxrom. No rebooting etc. as with the sharp-based roms. I've also got the impression the debian apps work faster this way.
Cheers,
Chero.

I'm currently hacking the c3000 - the pdaxrom build system seems to be broken (and support seems to be nonexistent), so I'm currently just stripping the pdaxrom initrd.bin image in such a way that it fits in the tiny c3000 flash (and the rest on the microdrive)
I'll keep you posted. You can always contact me on irc (VladDrac @ FreeNode)
