Hi,
is there a chance to have gammu or some similar program
to handle GSM phone (I'm mostly interested in backing up
SMS and phonebook) ?
I saw "Familiar" distribution has it in its repository
Thx

Hi check this out:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/kdepimpi/ (http://sourceforge.net/projects/kdepimpi/)
The suite includes a connect thing based upon gammu. Here is the gcc3 Oz version:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/kdepimp...pk.zip?download (http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/kdepimpi/kdepim_2.0.11_for_OZgcc3xx.ipk.zip?download)
For GSM connection through your phone I have seen guys connecting directly by infrared or bluetooth to Phone. Bluetooth is somehow tricky. I dont have any problems between Zaurus and my SE t610 via irda for PIM, but never tried that for GSM.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Sam

kammu 2.0.7 is in "upgrades" feed of OZ 3.5.2
And I can provide gammu 1.0.0 there also - see "3.5.2 upgrades" thread.

Thanks for rapid answers...
I'll try the graphical solution soon.
Just to let you know that
gammu IPK
provided by Familiar work fine.....

Yes please - I tried installing gammu from familiar feed 0.8 but libgammu was nowhere to be found, so if you could OE --> ipk Gammu, that woul dbe great.
Thanks,
Dez.

What is kammu - it looks like it's based on gammu (from what it spits out on the command line)? Is it supposed to have a GUI (as I can't seem to see one)?

kammu is ugly fork of gammu done by zautrix for his kdepimpi project
I don't understand why he did it - gammu authors are open for good patches.

Thanks for the info - strange that he's called it kammu but doesn't have any GUI which is afaiu the only reason for kammu (KDE GUI for gammu if I understand correctly).
Not a good name for him to choose in that case.
