Title: Smc Barricade Wireless Router Thumbs Up!
Post by: mabrown on March 01, 2005, 10:50:26 pm
Hi all,

I'm finally online wirelessly with my C860 (Pretec CF Wi-Fi) thanks to a cheap 'SMC Barricade SMC7004AWBR' wireless router, after a year of trying to use the so called 'soft access point' built into my desktop to share my internet.

Simple setup of the router using web browser interface. Is only 802.11b (OK for my Z) but has DSL port, serial port for dialup (essential for me ... no broadband and this is missing on many recent routers,) 3 wired lan ports, firewall and print server!

Just AU$87 here ...

http://www.computermarket.com.au (http://www.computermarket.com.au)

... via the 'more specials' link.

They have other SMCs on special which might suit those who would like 802.11g and dont need dialup, print server etc.

This has ended a year of frustration for me. Thought others might be interested.

All the best,

Mark Brown
