Title: CF card slot Type 1 or Type II ??
Post by: dansawyer on January 15, 2004, 05:11:02 pm
I am planning on purchasing a WiFi CF card for a Zaurus 5500. The spec sheets refer to Type I and Type II CF cards. Which is the 5500??

Thanks,
Dan

I won\'t be rude here, especialy since you\'re new, but this is a \"read the manual\" kind of question.

I\'ll give you the bennefit of the doubt and assume you don\'t have access to a manual.  The Z has a Type 2 slot which will accept either type of card.

FOr future reference, you can tell the difference on sight.  The ones that are nearly 1/4\" thick like the one in the Z are Type 2 and can take TypeI OR TypeII cards.  TypeI cards have exact same plug configuration but are about half the thickness of a type II.

And before you ask, there is one difference and one difference betwen typeI and TypeII cards ONLY.  The only difference is the thickness.  Period.  No exception.  Not trying to be a butt to you, but people in general seem to have a hard time with that idea, so I\'m trying to be clear.

It a good thing not to be rude. My manual simply says \"CF card\". No type is mentioned anywhere in the description.
