If someone can point me to a build of irk that works on 3.5.2 with the targus keyboard, I'd be very happy. Heck, I'll even buy you a beer. Make that two beers, and a plate of nachos.
I've looked up, down, sideways... Craig's site, OZ 3.5.1, 3.5.2, the feed directories, the upgrade directories...
Nowhere can I find an IRK build that actually has a working targus keyboard option with OZ 3.5.2. I'll back up my claims:
(1) http://www.openzaurus.org/official/unstabl...rgus-r0_arm.ipk (http://www.openzaurus.org/official/unstable/3.5.2/upgrades/irk_0.11-targus-r0_arm.ipk)
SEEMS like a good candidate, but after installing it... Belkin and Pockettop are the only two candidates. Why does it say targus when you can't use the targus with it? [Note to self: uninstall old one first]
(2) http://www.openzaurus.org/official/unstabl...11.1-r1_arm.ipk (http://www.openzaurus.org/official/unstable/3.5.2/feed/opie/irk_0.11.1-r1_arm.ipk)
The old standby. Doesn't specify which keyboards may or may not work with. This one... Supports Belkin and Pockettop. No targus.
(3) http://www.openzaurus.org/official/unstabl...0.11-r0_arm.ipk (http://www.openzaurus.org/official/unstable/3.5.2/upgrades/irk-belkin_0.11-r0_arm.ipk)
I tried this one out of sheer frustration. Works well with Belkin and Pockettop but not targus (no surprise)
(4) http://195.184.237.106/~zaurus/irk-zaurus_0.11.0_arm.ipk (http://195.184.237.106/~zaurus/irk-zaurus_0.11.0_arm.ipk)
Craig's own irk from his website. Doesn't work at all on OZ 3.5.2.
(5) http://www.openzaurus.org/official/unstabl...11.0-r1_arm.ipk (http://www.openzaurus.org/official/unstable/3.5.1/feed/irk_0.11.0-r1_arm.ipk)
Out of frustration I also tried this one. It didn't really work at all. Had some install problems that went away with -force-overwrite, but didn't work.
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

This should be the one to go for.
Have you asked on IRC/mailing list whether anyone else has had this problem? I'm not sure how many people have targus keyboard with which to test, so it may simply be that an option was forgotten when it was compiled (I don't know much about IRK I'm afraid) and hasn't been picked up until now.
If it's actually broken and no-one but you has the keyboard (and is running OZ), you may be able to help track down the source of the problem.

Nope, haven't tried the IRC/mailing lists yet. I think I will give your suggestion a try however. It probably is the case that not many people have the targus.
I was able to get the keyboard to work _for a time_, but I had to install the whole OE build system, and generate my own image and irk package. Then it worked, but there were other problems, like a broken text pad that wouldn't save files. I just about punted the thing.
Thanks for the response

I can confirm that this one worked perfectly for me. But, if you installed any other versions before this, you might have a ~/Settings/IRK.conf file sitting around mucking things up. I know the original IRK in the 3.5.2 feed contained settings for Belkin and Pocketop only. If this file is still there, it might be telling IRK that these are the only models available. I'd uninstall any version you have installed right now, make sure this file is deleted or moved somewhere to back-up, and install again. Should work like a charm after that.
BTW, for future reference I don't think you'll be able to use anything from Craig's site. I believe he compiles things for the Sharp ROM (using gcc 2.95) where OE uses gcc 3.xx and the "soft-float" option that makes them incompatible.

Thanks for the help acpkendo, but it didn't work for me directly as you described (above). After removing every possible reference to any irk files, configuration and otherwise, and reinstalling the targus version... All I got was a black screen, no opie.
Checking mailing lists, it turns out this is caused by IRK not finding a configuration file: /root/Settings/IRK.conf. This regardless of whether there is one in /etc/ or anywhere else.
So, for those of you who install the targus version from nothing and it won't work: Copy /etc/IRK.conf to /root/Settings/IRK.conf, stop and restart opie... And that should do it. This has been a problem since 3.5.1, and still affects 3.5.2. If you install the wrong version, uninstall it, manually remove any and all IRK.conf files, then install the proper version and copy the IRK.conf to /root/Settings from the /etc directory.
If you don't copy the IRK.conf file, IRK will SIGSEGV when it can't find it and crash opie right at startup, leaving you with a black screen.
