I grabbed a pic from DigitalBlasphemy.com, cropped it, and added the text. I think it came out really nice.
Z6000 is a portrait-mode device, so all pics are 480x640 24 bit BMPs. I copied the picture to /home/QtPalmtop/pics/Startup_screen.bmp (deleting the symlink there) and re-symlinked the /home/QtPalmtop/pics144/Startup_screen.bmp to it.
I'm not sure why there's a /pics and a /pics144 directory. They both look to contain the same stuff. I hate redundancy..
Just a note, this picture IS copyright digitalblasphemy.com. Please visit the site and subscribe if you want full access to the stuff there. I'm not a subscriber nor am I affiliated with the site, but I love the pics there. I guess he'll forgive me for cutting off the URL on the pic for this plug
Anyway, here it is;

Here's a pic I took in the Everglades. I really took it so I have the copyright ;-) and I say "feel free to use it on your Zaurus" !

Gondola:
I like the pic.
I followed your instructions on my SL-5500, however upon reboot (startup), the pic seems to have turned itself into landscape and tiled itself with a lot of lines through it...completely unreadable.
Is it the 5500 vs. 6000, or did I miss something?
Thanks.

Well, the 6000 is portrait mode vga (480x640).. The 5500 is 200x320 or 320x200 right? You'd probably have to resize it to get it to fit on your screen if that's the case.
I don't recall the screen specs of the 5500 offhand.

There's a short howto on startup screens with the 5x00, aparently they have to be rotated to show up the right way on the screen. Link: https://www.oesf.org/index.php?title=Change_StartUp_Screen (https://www.oesf.org/index.php?title=Change_StartUp_Screen)
Edit: The 5500 screen is 240 x something, I believe 240x320.

Thanks for the link. I'll see if I can make the adjustment and make it work.
I appreciate the help.
