I originallly posted the info here: https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showt...5533;entry74240 (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=11581&pid=74240&st=15entry74240)
but then after successfully testing it I feel like starting a new topic here.
I followed the ShirtPocket FAQ and reached a page talking about hacking the Addressbook from Sharp ROM so as to get rid of the sorting tabs according to Japanese pronunciations ( http://www.shirtpocket.co.uk/spforum/index.php?showtopic=41 (http://www.shirtpocket.co.uk/spforum/index.php?showtopic=41) ) . After throwing in the three files, and reboot. Voila! At last a reasonably functional Addressbook for the English users comes up!
The sorting tabs are clustering in the middle along the top panel, but is already much more functional and usable than the original japanese setting.
Plus there is a fast search box to the right. Searching is almost instant. Cool.
With the patch the original at last becomes what it is supposed to be.
Many people say that this addressbook app is not usable and prefer KA/Pi. But I am already quite happy with it.
Btw recently i begin to adopt a GTD trick to put down friends' important info (such as the important things they say) in the Note attached to each address. Now the addressbook is becoming an amazing yet darn simple GTD tool.

Nonsense sorting? I doubt that Japanese users would agree.

My apology to ashikase and other japanese users, if you found my previous post offending. No intent to start flaming.
I have already removed the word 'nonsense' from the first post. What I actually meant is the Addressbook is not quite usable to those going for English.
Hope the info is useful to those troubled by those tabs for long like me.

ZDevil,
Will the Shirtpocket solution work for the C3000?

You'll join the dark side eventually, heretic!

Everyone knows you silly people never make sense.</sarcasm>
Seriously though, it's a matter of who the address book makes sense to.

Heh, no offense taken. I'm not Japanese, I only live here. (^_^)

I also wish eventually KA/Pi will be heretic enough to turn me to the dark side.

Absolutely. That's why the very first thing non-japanese users have to do with their Z is to tweak it to make sense (linguistically) to them.
