Title: VisualBoyAdvance and SNES9x on SL-5600
Post by: weili1977 on January 18, 2004, 09:41:27 pm
After flashing my sl-5600 with the special kernel, I installed the VBA-SDL 1.7 and SNES9X to test the speed. But the display was splited into 4 small screens and totally unplayable. Anybody has an answer to this problem?

:? After installing Quake package and data file to my new SL-5600, only the top left quadrant of the game showed up.  It was unplayable, so I uninstalled it.  Was there supposed to be sound to this port???

I have found this \"version\" of SDL to work best for my 5500, it may work for you http://www.self-core.org/~kaoru-k/pub/libs...0031201_arm.ipk (http://www.self-core.org/~kaoru-k/pub/libsdl_1.2.5-slzaurus20031201_arm.ipk)

If that one does not work, there is another version on that site for the C700 (same cpu) which might fix it?

http://www.self-core.org/~kaoru-k/pub/libs...0030107_arm.ipk (http://www.self-core.org/~kaoru-k/pub/libsdl_1.2.5c700fix20030107_arm.ipk)

Hope one of those works for you, let me know what your results are if you do. I am getting a 5600 very soon!

What command did you use to launch the snes9x? I used \"snes9x -xs 320 -ys 240 -hi -ns /mnt/cf/rom_name.smc\". I tried both SDL but the screen was still falling apart! BTW, what kernel ROM are you using?

All i do to run snes9x is \"snes9x (game here)\" Thats it, no switches or options at all, they run fullscreen on OZ3.3.5 on a SL-5500

I\'m installing OZ3.3.6pre1. The md5sum gives FAILED info on the ipks.tar file. Redownloading didn\'t solve the problem. But I\'ll give it a shot!

Hi, I was able to install OZ3.3.5 on my SL-5600.  But after I installed the VBA and the required libsdl and zlib files, I couldn\'t run it. It seems that symbol links have problem. How did you manage to run VBA under OZ3.3.5?

Finally got it! Under Sharp ROM 1.32 with special kernel, I installed libSDL_1.2.6cvs-1_arm.ipk, zlib_1.1.4-2_arm.ipk, visualboyadvance_1.7-SDL-1_arm.ipk, and snes9x_SDL-1_arm.ipk. Snes9x runs very smooth with sound. But the landscape view is a bit annoying.  VBA is also playable with sound off. I tried to set the sound sampling rate to 11khz. It sounds better but still not satisfactory.

Cheers!

It seems that once one thing works great, another thing doesn\'t ... I know this is a bit off topic. but the hardware buttons don\'t work right with SDL 1.2.6, for example with qtopiagnuboy and zfceu the \"a\" button does not work (along with others i think). This is very dissapointing considering they run at lightning speed. Also, do you know how to get those buttons to work with snes9x, now that would be killer!

Remember do not use zemufe to start the game. Just use the down-to-earth command line! Sometimes the keyboard got locked. But most of the time it works like a champ!

The app buttons fail to work either way, i know it has to be SDL related, thats the only thing that has changed.
