Title: Any Way To Access All Dirs From Desktop?
Post by: Howard Roark on April 12, 2005, 01:10:40 pm
Is there anyway to use a file browser and see all the directories on the C3000 from a desktop? I only seem to see the dict and  std file folders on the HD.

Generally you can SSH into your Zaurus from the desktop (install the sshd daemon in that case on your Z) ands then you can view all the directories etc from the desktop thu the command line.

Or else use Tree ExplorerQt on the Z and view the whole file system structure on it using VNC from the desktop.

I have RealVNC for my desktop (win) but can you explain how to use TreeExplorer QT with the VNC program?

you have vnc on the zaurus and the windows box.  The windows vnc client logs into the vnc server on the zaurus.  This remotely opens the zaurus palmtop onto your windows box.  TreeExplorer is a windows explorer like filemanager that you can use once you're logged in.  But this method is more for browsing your file system, but I don't believe it will interact with the Z (download or edit files from the Z).

I would think using samba would be a more thorough method, but it is harder to setup.  Using Samba you can access the Z as easy as going through your windows box's network neigbourhood.
