Anybody have or using one? If yes, what kind and is it safe?

I got one for an ipaq that works great, as long as the output is rated 5vdc @ 1a you should be ok.

I have a 5VDC cigarette lighter adapter rated @ 1A that will not provide enough current to keep my Z going if the battery is already fairly well drained.
Another one I have is rated @ 5VDC/2A and works great under all circumstances.
I picked both of them up as close-out deals at Radio Shack. FYI, the 5VDC/2A adapter was sold for the Compaq 3100/3600.

I grabbed one on ebay from peakcloudy for $6.45.  After $9.00 shipping (IIRC), the charger was $15.45 and it came in a Sharp box and has worked great.
There are no items out there from peakcloudy right now, but every once in a while he\'ll have a lot of zaurus stuff out there.

I am using a car charger (don\'t know where it came from, was just laying around the spare parts drawer when I went looking for one).  The print on it states 4.5v@1A.  It specs out at 4.85v under load.  I also made one using a Maxim regulator chip that outputs 5v@2A.  Maxim supplies samples of their chips to developers.  I requested a sample and they sent me 2  .  I haven\'t built another charger yet, but since my desk is wired for 12v (ham radio stuff) I fully intend to.  Also, the ipaq chargers work with the Z.  I have a HP2215.  The Z charger stays at home (longer cord) and the ipaq at work.  So any car charger for an ipaq (make sure of the plug design though-should be the round Z type with an included adapter for the ipaq stuff) should work great for a Z.
