Title: What Is Cacko Rom?
Post by: Meanie on April 23, 2005, 01:26:37 am
This might be a stupid question, but what exactly is cacko rom, I mean, what advantages does it provide over the sharp rom? i've never had an earlier zaurus before, the c3000 being my first, so I've never had the pleasure of flashing a rom on the Z. So for the benefit of my ignorant self and others that might be to shy to ask, what does the cacko rom do that makes it superior to the sharp rom?

In a nutshell its a ROM based on the standard Sharp ROM with many many enhancements, already converted to English for you. It does everything that the standard ROM does, only better, and it saves you a shed load of time adding all the bells and whistles yourself.

Maslovsky does a fantastic job on this ROM. When he does release it for the 3000, you won't look back, at least until the pdaxrom and OZ guys get their ROMs out, and then you're in real trouble. ;o)

Read the announcement thread for Cacko 1.22 and 1.22 lite for c7x0/860 series on these forums to get a feel for what you can expect, or visit http://www.cacko.biz (http://www.cacko.biz).

ok, so cacko is sharp rom with advanced tweaking and customisation.

is there a list of what those enhancements are? i have customised my Z quite a bit so i wonder whether cacko would do anything for me.

Guys, some feedback on your website. I went to look at the FAQ and saw nothing about the feature list. This is what you expect from a FAQ. Anyway, I found what I was looking for in the release notes. Maybe a link from the FAQ to the release notes mentioning features would be a good idea.
