Title: Audio And Video On Zaurus
Post by: Storm on April 23, 2005, 02:28:29 pm
I'm having issues with audio and video (mainly video) on my SL-5500 running OZ 3.5.3. These are the last two hurdles I have.

Audio: opie-mediaplayer2 plays mp3s back garbled.  The same mp3s play fine in XMMS-embedded.

Video: I can't get these to play reliably at all. XMMS-embedded + mplayer from the OZ feeds will not will not play at all (the screen blanks as if it is going to play, and then goes back to the playlist. Opie-mediaplayer2 does the same thing. When playing from the command line with only mplayer, the video plays, but the audio is a bunch of random ticking noises.

I have recoded the test videos down to 320x240 at a bitrate of 500kbs, avi/DivX format. I have also tried mpeg format and gotten the same result.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks,

what happens when you play a mp3 file with mplayer?

The same ticking noise as with mpgs. Perhaps a little more regular than the video encoded into the audio.

I am also working on figuring out the right formula to cut the video bitrate (further investigation indicates that anything >200kbps eats up too much cpu), and converting the audio to 22050kHz mono ogg-vorbis. No success so far, but I think I'm getting closer.

Upgrade libqte (or is it libqpe? - one or the other) should fix the sound (so I've read).

Try using mplayer with these options "-ac mad -ao oss" and it should make the ticking go away.
