Title: X/qt-debian Issues
Post by: ArchiMark on April 24, 2005, 06:54:50 pm
Well, got Debian up and running, basically OK, but have a few issues that I could use some help with please....

1) When I install  most apps, it goes OK. However, with certain apps I get the following error message:
Code: [Select]
usr/bin/locale: Cannot set LC_TYPE to default locale: No such file or directory.
usr/bin/locale: Cannot set LC_MESSAGES to default locale: No such file or directory.
usr/bin/locale: Cannot set LC_ALL to default locale: No such file or directory.

Any ideas on what this is all about and what I can to do to correct this?

2) Sometimes when I open up an app, I get something like the following error message:
Code: [Select]
Gdk-Warning**: Locale not supported by C library. Setting locale to C....
Is this related to Issue no. 1 above?

Any suggestions?

It is related.

The locales thing is actually--depite how terrible it sounds-- pretty meaningless imho.

There is discussion of how to handle it earlier in the thread.

You can just ignore it, though. It won't give you problems that I noticed

Thanks as always for your help, adf!

Good to know that it won't hurt anything...

Meanwhile, I installed 'synaptic' (which is nice way to install apps) and a few others apps....

All in all, very nice setup on my C3000!
