Hi all ... a bit new in the zaurus flashing scene ... I got a SL-6000, was interested in trying something besides the QT based OS. I downloaded the OZ 3.5.3 image, shell, and zimage, put them on a vfat formatted 128mb SD card, and flashed.
My problem now, is that after flashing, the device won't power on. The charging light comes on, untill I hit the power button, then it just turns off. I have to hit the reset button in the back of the unit. I can still get to the maintance menu via holding "OK" while powering up the device, but no matter what selection I make there the device just turns off (or so it seems)
any suggestions? this was a bit of an expensive device to turn into a doorstop!
EDIT: after a little bit of searching, found this thread : https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=9275 (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=9275) : in which the nonbooting zaurus problem was mentioned, with a NAND fix ... is this the only way to fix this problem? or just the "best bet"? Reason I ask, I'd still like to go to GPE, but I'd like to make sure my zaurus still works (Yes, I can get the Power+D+P after hard reset menu, so I'm assuming my zaurus is ok )

well, the instructions I found worked ... flashed from a 256MB CF card, restored the sharp rom ... then immediatly redid the OZ flash, worked GREAT this time
loving the GPE 2.6 goodness and am now customizing the layout and such ...
one further question, has anyone else had a problem with GPE spikingcpu usage to 100% and holding it there? the Z6000 is still responsive, I just don't like seeing 100% cpu usage at all times ...

what's using the processor?

various processes ... at first it was a terminal program I was running, so I figured that was the culpret ... I kill -9'd it, and it went away ... but then some other process picked up and went to 100% usage ... I'll be able to get the exact process names when I get home tonight ... it just struck me as odd.

Me too
Perhaps it's a bug in top?

I'm thinking that too ... it did it when I flashed back to sharp rom, and I tried the opie variant of OZ as well ...
I'm back to GPE, but top still reports 100% usage ...
oh well, so long as my battery life isn't affected ... heh
