Title: Screen Noise
Post by: trichmon on May 08, 2005, 02:49:55 pm
When ever i run an app in magnified mode (like opie programs) i get a high pitched buzz.  Everything wokrs, and it has done it from day one.  I tried reflashing, thinking that it might help but it did not.  I am using the stock sharp rom, but i have tried the gpe rom and it had no trouble but I didnt see a way to change an apps resolution in it.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Todd

Mine too... only when running apps in magnified mode (which I've only done to test this).  Though I can only hear the noise when I have the Z screen close to my ear, which I don't often do

Now if someone could make a Z screen sound like a sea shell, that'd be cool

Besides the 5x00 series the Zs use fluorescent light.  The noise is probably the ballast, but I don't understand what about magnified mode would make it louder.

That noise probably comes from the DC-DC converter which is used to power LCD. I guess this should be harmless if no of extra heat produced.
