Title: Has Anyone Hooked A C3000 To An Ipod?
Post by: AndyTiedye on May 10, 2005, 11:05:13 pm
Has anyone hooked a C3k (or any other Zaurus) up to an Ipod?
It seems to recognize it as a mass storage device, but I couldn't mount it.
It does not seem to recognize the partition scheme.

This would hopefully not have the same problems as a regular usb disk,
since it has its own batteries.  It wouldn't be able to charge off the Z of course.

I think that's because the ipod has by default the HFS+ filesystem on it... I don't think the Z can recognize that... (I could be wrong)

You can format your ipod so windows can read it, which the Zaurus can read also. I haven't tried hooking up my ipod to it yet, but will tomorrow.

Yes, I have, and it works fine if it's a Windows-formatted iPod. Make sure to mount /dev/sda2, because /dev/sda1 is a special 35 mb iPod partition. Everything works from there. Unmounting the iPod will not remove the "Do Not Disconnect" message, although I've learned to distrust that message.
