Title: Confused. X/qt X Apps On Cacko?
Post by: craigtyson on May 11, 2005, 07:40:33 am
Is I stupid or am I missing the point?

Can cacko run X apps? If so how and what sort of performance can I expect on a C750?

Also how does PDAX rom compair to x/qt if at all.

Cacko can run X apps if you install X/Qt (and necessary dependancies the app might have), the performance will depend on the app and what you are comparing it too - it won't match your Athlon XP 1800+ desktop performance  - but generally I've found most apps to be usable but the load time can be quite considerable at times.

Never tried PDAX rom form more than a few hours as they don't have a decent Japanese input method so I can't do comparisons for you sorry.

Cool What apps are available / and or run well.  I had in mind running GIMP and FIREFOX.

Never tried firefoxm but was runnig gimp (very slow to load but okay after that) and slypheed (slow to load but great after that) .

Check out http://xqt.sourceforge.jp/index.html (http://xqt.sourceforge.jp/index.html) for some screenshots, most of the apps are available in Cacko Feed, but you can also get them from http://xqt.sourceforge.jp/feed/ (http://xqt.sourceforge.jp/feed/)

I've heard that a lot of pdax apps will also run in X/Qt but don't have much experience with it
