Title: Where's The Cheapest In Jp?
Post by: meshuga on May 11, 2005, 05:08:27 pm
My friends in Japan and said she's willing to pick me up a Zaurus sl-c1000.
I don't want to have to send her all over the country, so anyone have recent experiences they want to share, or know of places that sell it? (Names, perferably)

Thanks in advance.

Bic Camera is famous for being expensive, but making up for it with their card program (which does little for visitors to the country.) Sofmap is easy to find, and on the higher end for pricing. The place where my contact their got mine was from a store called "Naniwadenki" - which is a discount store. The branch he went to was in Osaka, but I'm sure there are others - We ended up paying ~43000 a month ago.

Someone else mentioned that they found one for ~40000 in Akihabara, but didn't say from where.

Have a look at www.kakaku.com they offer the best prices on almost anything

Here is the link for the SL-C1000 (http://kakaku.com/prdsearch/detail.asp?ItemCD=003030&MakerCD=75&Product=SL%2DC1000)

Most of the shops listed here are internet shops, but kahm's suggested Naniwadenki, comes in at number 6 at 40,425 yen (only 125 yen above the best price) and they have units in stock (if you friend is in Osaka) or can deliver if in other places.

Hope this helps

The first 4 stores on the link above are all Tokyo based, not sure where any of them are in Tokyo as my knowledge of Tokyo geography is limited to Disney land and Shinjuku. The Wink store (numer 3 on the list) has a store according to it's web page (http://www.winkdigital.com/wink/corppr.jsp) and has the C1000 for only 40,370 at the moment. PC select looks to be in Akihabara and has the C1k for 40,300. You won't getter better prices than that for awhile I guess.

Good Luck

Thanks - the kakau.com link is where we found Naniwadenki in the first place. I thought they were in more places than just Osaka, but I checked their web-page, and it doesn't seem like it.

Nice to see that the price has dropped in the last month or so. $475CAN for a C1000 is pretty good!

Now I'm back on the fence weather to get a c1000 or a c3000. I'm gunna post in the hardware forum about the reliability of the hdd.
Thanks everyone for your help! I'll pass it to her and hopefully get a device within the next 2 weeks.

Hi there,

I am on transit at Narita airport in Tokyo for 24 hours next month. Could you please advise, where I can find a C3000 for a reasonable price. Also, what's involved in converting it to english.

Thanks
