Title: Anyone written any battery life analysis software/scripts?
Post by: lardman on January 23, 2004, 07:00:46 am
I\'m starting to feel that my Z\'s battery is dying, but I can\'t be sure as my usage is fairly erratic and I\'ve never actually noted how long it lasted at certain backlight levels, etc.

Anyway I thought I\'d write a script to plot the battery life every few minutes and was just wondering whether I\'m re-inventing the wheel.

If no-one has actually done this I\'ve a few questions:

I\'d like to have a little program which will rate the battery in a 5500 in terms of how close to death it is (the same would also work for the other machines but with different parameters, etc.).

Can I get a notification that the Z has been turned on? I notice that the battery power seems to recover when suspended, then drops off again after a little while.

Does anyone know how long it takes for a battery to recover its charge (ie. as I said above, when suspended the battery seems to recover slightly), so that I can factor this in.

Temperature dependence?

2 years later and my battery is still usable.  though I can\'t get it out of my head how short lived it is with the light on.  Maybee it doesnt bother me much because i carry it in my pocket all the time and pop it out to jot some things down and when i watch movies, i hook up an external battery.
