Hi group!, good day!
How you know Zaurus is a great gadget, and the posibility to plug accessories make it greater!
I think that the only thing that need a Zaurus (besides the network) is a CD's reader/writer unit.
Any of you had prove an external USB CD's reader/writer?
To be more exact, I am interesting to get a device like this:
The Sony MPD-AP20U:
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/storage/d...-mpd-ap20u.html (http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/storage/display/sony-mpd-ap20u.html)
This baby is a External optical drive, it not only can read and write your CD's, and read DVD's too, but also you can use it like Discman; because it is able to play your music CDs, and MP3 CD's, cool, don't?
I don't know other devices like this, more important is that I had not found any references if this device works with Linux. So my friends, Could you give me an advice please.
Does anybody know other device like this?? (that maybe works with linux)
Could anybody give a references of other models like this device?? (same features)
My goal is to find a device like this (or maybe itself) that works with Linux.
That is because if it works with Linux, it must works with Zaurus (I guess)
Thanks alot for your attention.
Best Regards.

Well, I've used an Archos MiniCDRW2 USB drive off of my C3000, for both reading and burning CDs.

Has anybody gotten the older model Archos MiniCDRW (not the 2) to work with the C3000?

Quite frankly, I'm sure that the number of tested CD-RW drives can be counted on one hand. You're best bet is to try it. If it is a standard mass-storage/USB-SCSI device you should be able to use it without too many difficulties. I don't know the specs for V1, but the Z only does usb 1.1 anyway.

Very interesting. Then has anyone tried ASUS CRW5232AS-U on the C series? It's of a regular-sized CD burner and the price is so attractive. Thanks in advance!

Saw this yesterday:
http://www.suhami.net/zaurus/index.cgi?PastRecord%2F2004-11 (http://www.suhami.net/zaurus/index.cgi?PastRecord%2F2004-11)
The writer uses a DVD SuperMulti Station to burn CD!
I've taken a look at the cdrtools-2.01.tar.gz, but not sure how to do with the files. How and where can I put these tools in Zaurus? Thanks!

I just bought a USB CDRW/DVD combo drive made by DBtech. Everything seemed to work work ok, I was able to mount the drive with a CD entered as /dev/scd0. It was automatically recognised as iso9660 and I was able to browse the contents of the CD via the console. But now comes the problem part. I was able to copy small files off the CD, but when I tried to copy the large avseq.dat file (yep, its a VCD), the Zaurus complained with an I/O error This is on a C3000 with Sharp ROM 1.11JA and Tetsu's special kernel.

Hi everyone,
1 - you dont read a vcd like a normal cd... you can try mplayer to extract the movie.
2 - I have a sony usb cd writer, discman, mp3 player model crx10u. works great.
It is self powered and usb 1.1
Its wonderfull to make my sd backup with: mkisofs -R /mnt/card | cdrecord dev=0,0,0 speed=4 ...
3 - usb 1.1 will write a cd at 4 or 6x.
4 - any usb writer that works with a desktop linux will work with Z
My 2 cents...
oh! I have a c1K.
