Title: New Kernel Akita-20050505 Installation Pb
Post by: Oneiros on May 16, 2005, 06:36:13 am
Hi,

when I tried to install this new kernel on my C1000 I got this message
"Warning
Trying to run the wrong kernel
I will go to sleep during 1 min reset and reflash kernel during that time"

What did I do wrong?
I downloaded the new kernel put it on my sd card, renamed it and flashed it as usual.
The kernel is obviously installed but why do I get this message?

You didn't do anything wrong.  They put that warning in as a precaution.  Just wait the minute and it will boot properly.

P.S.  Don't forget to upgrade/install http://www.openzaurus.org/official/unstabl...0-r15_akita.ipk (http://www.openzaurus.org/official/unstable/3.5.3/upgrades/libqte2_2.3.10-r15_akita.ipk) as it has the patch to fix the dpad issue.

You can remove the warning if you are sure that the kernel is the right one (obviously you are as you've upgraded specifically, but anyone else seeing this warning take heed!), take a look in the init scripts.

Ok thanks, everythings went well after the delay so I guess I will look in the init script to remove the warning.

I tried to do that and got a problem of unresolved dependency on libts-0.0-0 >= 0.0cvs20050505 : [a href=\"https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=11967&view=findpost&p=80330]https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showt...indpost&p=80330[/url]

Didn't you experience the same ?

I don't know how I managed to do it, but some use of -force-depends or nodeps got it installed.

If you'll notice, the libts is installed, it just doesn't have the right nomenclature, i.e. 0.0 vs. 0.0cvs20050505 (looks to me like the version number and the date got garbled in the libts dependency listing for libqte2).

That seems to have worked. Thanks.

Well, being withou adsl and having to use this stupid proxy at work, I can't access openzaurus.org (always timeouts when accessed from work, as well as slashdot and newsforge - don't know if they just blocked all those on purpose).
Can anyone attach the updated libqte here?
Thanks!

Update:
Never mind, I found a proxy that wasn't blocked by websense. Even though it doesn't have ssl (so no email - all logins go thru ssl), it works at least to access openzaurus.org.

FYI, there are mirrors on different sites.

Many users complain that fetching from OpenZaurus.org is slow. When writing about 3.5.3 release we forgot to mention mirrors.

Thanks!
That would allow me to get ipks without abusing some guy's proxy - but they haven't been updated. One is dated 14th april, the other was last updated on the 17th.
