Since the OZ team has seen the light and removed the word 'ROM' from openzaurus.org, I think oesf should do the same for the OZ sections.
As a second thing: oesf seems to be very (QT)OpieZaurus, there's no gpe/pixil section or even a general X section. Was that intentional?

Good call out, I've renamed the OZ forum as requested.

Definitely not intentional. Actually, sice I started using OZ on my 1000 I started to become re-acquainted with all that is OZ (oz/opie, oz/gpe, etc) and have read a lot. I wondered myself why we had all of OZ lumped into one forum when it might make sense to break it into two - one for oz/opie and the other for oz/qpe.
Others please share your thoughts and suggestions about possible changes.
Thanks

I'd like to see Common, Opie and GPE sections seperated for OZ, too.

so something like this:
ROMs, Development, and Model Specific Forums > ROMs Support and Discussion >
> OZ Common (description to be added)
> OZ / Opie (description to be added)
> OZ / GPE (description to be added)
Or would you rather have it organized some other way?
Let me know and I'll make the changes.
-
And change the X/qt to X please.

except...isn't Xqt a qt app?
-
koen, you sure?
The XQt part of the forum was there to discuss the XQt app which allows one to have an X environment running inside a Qt window (inside Qtopia/Opie).
It'll probably create some duplication, but an X11-related questions section somewhere could answer general questions from pdaXrom, GPE and XQt, then the above forums could be used for specifics for the app/distro. Just an idea, any thoughts?

This makes much more sense imho

ROMs, Development, and Model Specific Forums > ROMs Support and Discussion >
> OZ Common (description to be added)
> OZ / Opie (description to be added)
> OZ / GPE (description to be added)
That looks good to me.
As for the descriptions, I'd propose something like:
OZ/Common: OZ base system issues, independent from GUI environment
OZ/Opie: Using the Open Palmtop Integrated Environment with OZ
OZ/GPE: Using the G Palmtop Environment with OZ

Done
Now to move the posts into the correct forums. If any other OE/OZ devs want to become moderators to help with this, just let me know.
Otherwise, if you know that a thread should be moved to a different forum (ie. from OZ/Opie to OZ/Common), simply add a post to the thread indicating which forum it should be in. One of the admins will then move the thread and delete the post (just the post indicated where to move it).
Thanks
-
I've started moving a few, can the admin-ship from OZ/Opie be added to the other OZ forums too please.
Thanks,
Simon

I will help move a few as a 'temporary helper' if you would like. It doesn't make sense to mark them for someone else to move.
Let me know.

I don't see a point in having a X/QT section but no X section at all. X/QT being a subsection of the X section would make more sense. Especially if people are going to run xfce, kde, gnome, pixil or any other X based environment on their new pda (think c3k).
-
Offroadgeek,
Could you swap the OZ/Opie and OZ/Common forums around - change names - most of the threads will probably remain in common so it makes sense to rename the original forum to that (otherwise I'll be here all week moving stuff out of OZ/Opie).
Thanks,
Si

Except that it's actually a subset of Qtopia/Opie. It's not X, it's X running in Qtopia/Opie.
Using your logic, since I can run Qtopia/Opie in qvfb in X, then the X sections should actually be a subset of Qtopia/Opie sections.

Does anybody see the irony of that?

not unless you also see irony in qvfb running Qtopia/Opie.

oops forgot that... thanks for catching that.

You know, I was thinking of that when I created the forums, but I wasn't sure where most of the existing threads would stay.
I've renamed the forums accordingly.
