Title: New Web Site For My Zaurus Sl5500 Adventures
Post by: quickening on May 22, 2005, 04:35:04 pm
I have very belatedly put up a website for my SL-5500.   I hope someone might find an interesting nugget or two.
Zaurus Tricks (http://quickening.hn.org/Zaurus.html)

I was going over all my old zaurus links, and noticed zauruszone.com was gone.  What has replaced it?

Awsome job. I like you website a bunch and I just got my Zaurus.
Just one question... how do you use VOIP on the Zaurus?

The link to  Palantir  client - [a href=\"http://www.calextech.com/zpalantir/index.html]http://www.calextech.com/zpalantir/index.html - seems dead. Do you have a copy?

so it is.  it's available still on the [a href=\"http://web.archive.org]Wayback Machine.   It's also in my Zaurus Feed (http://quickening.hn.org/ZaurusFeed).

an alternative is vlc (videolan client/server).  I haven't tried it but I can say I had no problem watching my webcam fed over an 802.11b wireless connection by Palantir.  You can of course feed anything you want into the video server, and watch a dvd or tv over your wireless connection.  Your server has to be fast enough to convert and compress it to 320x240. (my SL5500 res.)

Thanks!  That's a big question.  There are several protocols and varying levels of functionality.   I tried zmeeting, ZIPPhone (in my ZaurusFeed), and [a href=\"http://www.thekompany.com/embedded/tkcphone/]tkcPhone.  tkcPhone can be frustrating when it won't connect to the server, but it sounds good.  The free ones work but don't  sound very good.   You might have better luck with Linphone or KPhone.  Skype supports Linux, Qt, and Pocket PC - but not the Zaurus?!  Maybe if you ask them.

Good Luck, let me know what works for you.

Nice site ^^ I'll have to try that JSquiggle thing out, if I can find anyone else who can run it and has wifi

One question though, at the top of the page there are images of different coloured Zaurus', any idea where you can get those replacement shell's from? I'd probably opt for the black over the purple though

The sharp devnet board replaced zauruszone, then the ZUG forums (now OE Forums) replaced the devnet board.
