Title: Error Message - Can't Locate Makecompat
Post by: tombraider on May 26, 2005, 01:10:03 pm
Hi,
Trying to get Opera 7.3 downloaded from ZUG to work on Open Zaurus.  No luck so far....I DO have an Opera icon...yay!!  But when it is clicked on it does nothing.
(I have run 'ipkg-link mount /media/card/packages' from the console as advised by Lardman and have gotten some apps to work.)

How do I tell the libraries where to find "makecompat" and then how do I apply that to the Opera install?  I'm a rank newbie at console commands so please give details - details - details.

Thanks in advance.

When you next install an app save the ipkg output and then look for the line that says something like -
error linkling(sic) /mnt/card/share/usr/makecompat to  /mnt/card/packages/****

cd in the file manager so that you are in the right places on pages 1 and 2 and then symlink from the drop down menu

when makecompat works just do what it tells you.  It couldn't be simpler.

I'm sure there are more elegant solutions from the console but this way works for me.

I have done this and now I get;

  "error while loading shared libraries: /opt/QTPalmtop.compat/lib/libqpe.so.1: file too small"

Ah well, life is a journey of discovery

When I get this it is because to file has somehow gotten corrupt (If  you look at the size it will most likely say it is blank).  Either copying the file over or reinstalling usually works for me.

Maybe it will for you too!
