Title: Old Palm Data
Post by: trainmaster on July 12, 2003, 02:39:22 pm
My Palm m505 hit the floor yesterday and I purchased at new SL-5500 on e-Bay.  I kept my Palm sync\'ed with my W2K machine.  Is there anyway to transfer that data into the Zaurus when it arrives??

Thanks in advance,
Steve

Hi,

if you used OUTLOOK with your Palm then choose Outlook option when setting sync options for the Z, if you used Palm desktop then choose that option.

This is after you have installed the Intellisync and driver software. You should be able to sort it out fairly quickly.

By the way if you use your Zaurus manager and choose Advanced USB TCP/IP then you will be able to use the CF card and SD card and /HOME on your Zaurus in MY NETWORK PLACES, which makes file transfer and management very easy!

Have fun

yup.. that\'s what I did when I broke my palm and went to the z... this was about 1 1/2 years ago, so I don\'t remember the details.. but I do remember being able to sync all my palm data directly to my Z (I think it was via outlook...).

Either way... if you have the data on Palm Desktop... just to a good sync, then change the option to sync with Outlook, sync the data there, then you can sync it from outlook to the Z...

good luck

If you were using Palm Desktop to synic with your m505, there is no straight route to get your data to Outlook.  I just had to do this for my wife, she lost her Visor Edge and I to move everything over to Outlook for her new Dell Handheld (She did not want a \"Z\").

To move everything over is two step proccess.
1.) Create a Email accout with Yahoo, if you don\'t have one already.  Under the Address Book tab is an import/export link.  Follow the instructions for importing from Palm Desktop.  Note - Because my wifes concact list was large, I had to split the importing into chucks.
2.) Once everything is in, use the export to Outlook link to create a CVS file.  Once you have your file on your PC, use the import fuction in Outlook to bring your info in.

I guess it\'s real more the 2 steps, but you get the idea.  You can do the same for calendar and the notes.

Good Luck
