Title: Perl For The Sl-c3000
Post by: tridral on June 11, 2005, 01:52:27 am
I am entirely new to the SL-C3000 and I'm looking for a perl package and beginners instructions on how to install it.  I've looked at the forums but I've not found  any information.

Could someone point me to the right package and the instructions for installing it onto the disk?

I've already managed toget this wrong a couple of times- wrong package (Perl_5.8.0_arm.ipk), attempted to install in the wrong location ...

I'd appreciate any help.

Thank you for the pointer.

Some rummaging around leads me to find perl at [a href=\"http://www.sense.net/zc/perl/]http://www.sense.net/zc/perl/[/url]

although with some minor differences in version numbers

The instructions above have:

# libperl - [libperl_5.6.1_arm.ipk]
# perl-base - [perl-base_5.6.1_arm.ipk]
# perl5 - [perl_5.6.1_arm.ipk]

http://www.sense.net/zc/perl/ (http://www.sense.net/zc/perl/) has
                               -
[   ] libdigest-md5-perl_2.13-2_arm.ipk 08-Jun-2004 09:18   21K
[   ] libstorable-perl_1.0.14-1_arm.ipk 08-Jun-2004 09:18   51K
[   ] perl-base_5.6.1-8.7_arm.ipk       08-Jun-2004 09:19  532K
[   ] perl-modules_5.6.1-8.7_all.ipk    08-Jun-2004 09:19  1.2M
[   ] perl-tk_800.024-1_arm.ipk         08-Jun-2004 09:21  1.9M
[   ] perl_5.6.1-8.7_arm.ipk            08-Jun-2004 09:21  1.1M

I'll use the set above and report back.

Thank you!

Great page.  makes me want to buy a C3000.  You should put it up on the Zaurususergroup Howto docs

https://www.oesf.org/index.php?title=Zaurus..._Series_How-Tos (https://www.oesf.org/index.php?title=Zaurus_How-To_Docs#Zaurus_SL-C1000.2C_SL-C3000_.26_C3100_Series_How-Tos)

I noticed someone's trying to do that there, but hasn't had time to finish.  It's inspired me to make a tiny version of that for the 6000

https://www.oesf.org/index.php?title=Applic...6000L/Sharp_ROM (https://www.oesf.org/index.php?title=Applications_that_run_on_the_6000L/Sharp_ROM)

It's by no means even close to your page, but I'm hoping it helps others.  I told a bunch of others about your page - they were most impressed, and are talking about getting a C3000 and using your page to customize their Z.  I'm glad you put the effort to putting it together - it's the most comprehensive info I've seen to date on what can be done on the Z.
