He also says: These are selling quick and i have alot of them, I have offers for $150.00 each, so buy them now Cheaper!
Sounds a little strange to me - if he has offers for $150 why does he sell at 125?

For that price, I might be getting one too.

All sold at $125 a pop. Now this guy is selling another batch at $135 a pop here:

18 left so far. I hope that some of the OE/Opie developers will be able to grab it while it lasts. Hopefully it will give a new push to slowing simpad support in OE. Hint, hint...
-albertr
-
Well...I bought two of them
I'm planning on improving the input method systems, so that it's easier to port input methods between any system.
-
Well, I couldn't resist the price and snatched one too
While it's not as sexy as upcoming Nokia tablet, the price is hard to beat. I'll try to add a serial bluetooth module (to keep PCMCIA slot available for memory cards) and pair it up with my BT GPS receiver. If everything goes well, it might make my grs car navigation system on cheap.

Same here... hopefully we'll actually receive them!

I also bought one (at least I paid the money). Could I ask the first person to actually receive Simpad from this seller to post it here? I am sure many people who are somewhat surprised by this auction would appreciate it.

I don't know the seller and never bought anyhting from him before. But his ebay feedback looks good to me, and he was *real* quick shipping it out (shipped it out just a few hours after I've paid for it and sent me a UPS tracking number! Mind you, I didn't even ask him for a tracking number...). The only disadvantage I see is that he';s shipping by UPS Ground, so transit could take a while for those who are not in Arizona I'll let everyone know once I received mine...

Because of you, I bought one of these, and I would be in deep trouble for it with my husband if he had not just bought himself a big humongous lawn mower/tractor off Amazon.com for $1000.
I shouldn't go on these forums - it's bad for my financial health.
I paid for it, but have not heard from the guy.
-
Guys, just a word of caution - if you're about to buy one, be ready to fight your way thru obstacles. I mean - don't expect that someone comes out and provide you with a nice and stable linux distro for simpad. With the current state of OE simpad support (no maintainer, some of the key developers lost their interest), make sure you can get down to the code and fix it *yourself*. That said, I look forward to getting my simpad and trying to make it into the car gps navigation system or at least having some fun with opie and bluetooth on it.

I was hoping to upgrade the Windows system on it and see if I could use it as a gps device for the car. I use my Sharp Rom collie for GPS navigation in the car with zroadmap , but the screen is awfully small.
I already happen to have a silver Orinoco wifi pcmcia card (in fact I have a gold and a silver) which is "supposed" to be plug and play with it.
I think the GPS aspect is going to be VERY difficult to implement though...can't find much through googling on the subject.

I have an opie distro running on my simpad and I haven't had to get down in the code and fix it myself (yet). The latest build for simpad is pretty good but you are right that there is a danger that it is going to drop behind. See [a href=\"http://opensimpad.org/opensimpad-forum/viewtopic.php?t=835&sid=06e00d23dac627ef4896e7e57d650c32]this thread[/url] for info on how to install it.

Mine arrived today
Just getting ready to flash one of them now
on an interesting note:
"Made in Switzerland."

Well I just told my wife that I bought two of them (and they just arrived today, imagine if she'd been here when they came...)...and I think the only way I can talk her out of killing me is by bringing up the amount of stuff she bought around her friend's birthday
And that I cleaned the house while she's out with her friends

If you'll be opening the case by any chance, can you take a look at SDRAM chips and let us know their marking? There's a rumor that some of Sl4's were made with 128MB of RAM...
EDIT: Actually, there's no need to open it up, the additional 64MB would show up as a RAM disk in WinCE.
-albertr
-
Nope, 64MB
Hmm, I'm having some issues with minicom here..when I plug the cable in, I get CLIENT send a bunch of times, but when I reset to simpad, just garbage...
I thought the baudrate was supposed to be 115k?
Nevermind, I got it...
-
I think old simens' bootloader uses 38400-8N1, hardware flow control.
-albertr
-
The same guy is selling Simpads now for $115 without all of the accessories. He also has broken Simpads for sale.
-
Got it today! So far so good.

Hello
I have 128 Mb of ram, and working with someone on flash extension. If it fails, an internal sd/mmc reader if I can find a free GPIO.
-
Very simply put - the guy had NO idea what the simpads are.
The first one was sold at 75$ !!!!!!!
I got may at 90$
hope it has 128 RAM, cause it seems the stock 32Mb ROM aint enoth these days.
How may I connect an internal CF/MMC?

Yeap, and if he has any more stock, I'll prob get one for my friend!
You can use a CF with a CF->PCCard/PCMCIA adapter and a MMC with a multi-card pccard adapter.
The one I received (box was a bit scratched, but unit and contents are brandnew) is a 64MB version.
-
the two simpads we got had 64 mb
too bad - was among the firs in on this.
found it by mistake... wanted to google for simpad ...
q: what power adaptors did you ewcive with it? are they big blocks? can they be used in europe (240V)?
-
Mine came with the europe adapter as well as the American one, and it's an auto-switching supply, so yes, you can use it in europe...

Mine came with the power brick + one US power connector and one europe connector. (I think its Europe anyway. Its like the US type but with round pins)
