Does anyone know if the Cacko X11 ROM will run on the SL-5600?
-
the cracko rom guys think the 5600 isnt good enough for x11
debian zaurus does but it sucks at the moment and developments halted
http://people.debian.org/~mdz/zaurus/ (http://people.debian.org/~mdz/zaurus/)
hope the gentoo guys catch the clue train and support the 5600

No, it won\'t. Currently the Cacko rom is not available for the SL-5600 (or SL-5500) Zaurus.
Maybe the Cacko team will port it in the future.
The Sharp Rom, the Kompany Rom, and OpenZaurus Roms are available for your
platform, should you wish to try them instead. X11 can be made to run on these Roms too,
and additionally Zaurus-Debian (pocketworkstation.org) with X11 can run as a \"guest\" OS
sitting on a Zaurus which has another Rom installed.

Edo.

Thanks. So far I haven\'t tried any ROM at all (just the default Sharp ROM that came with the unit)....don\'t really see the point of going to another ROM unless it gives me a LOT more. With an X11 ROM I can definitely see that being the case.
Oh well I\'ll have to keep my eye out.

Fyi, I sent an email to cacko.biz and the response I got was it doesn\'t currently support the 5600 but the new X11 ROM will (I\'m guessing by that they meant a rev coming up in the future).
