Title: C1000 Symbol/spectrum More Issues :-(

Hi all,
I've read a couple of posts regarding the Symbol Spectrum CF card on the C1000. I have successfully connected to my home and work APs without using WEP. However, when I enable WEP, I cannot connect.
I use "iwconfig eth0 key xxxxxxxx".
iwconfig shows the correct WEP key, but alas no luck. Anyone else had this?

Secondly, I'd like to use a wireless sniffer - Kismet, Wellenreiter or such.

I've set my capture source to wlanng,eth0,test and get ETH0: Device or Resource Busy. Setting to wlanng,wlan0,test gets: Interface wlan0: no such device.
I've tried setting up a dummy wireless connection as suggested elsewhere, but still no joy.

Wellwenreiter gives me SIOCSIFFLAGS: Device or resource busy. using eth0

I've tried entering my cardctl ident info into wlan-ng.conf.

Does anyone else have this combination working with WEP and with a sniffer?

Wait for Cacko ROM release for C1000, this card is well supported. And new card version too, BTW

That is soo cool.  Do you know if there is any real advantage with the new one?

Thanks maslovsky,

I thought that Cacko ROM would be an answer. I'm desperately waiting to move on to Cacko.  Is it likely to be available within the next few months?

Hi,

I am also trying to get Wellenriter or KismEt to work with a Symbol/spectrum card. (After 15 years on computers I am still having problems with my spectrum)

I have wellenriter acquiring packets by ding the command, as su :-

Code: [Select]

iwconfig eth0 mode "AD-HOC"
iwconfig eth0 essid "Any"And to resuem normal networking

Code: [Select]

iwconfig eth0 mode "AD-HOC"
iwconfig eth0 essid "what_ever_network_you_use"[/code]
Or

Code: [Select]

iwconfig eth0 essid "ANY"
Unfortunately, the sniffed packets are shown as 'Wired' packets not wireless. Time for me to RTFN.

Sorce code for the drivers is available with Archos SDK (they use this card in their device), so it shouldn't be a problem to support this card in pdaxrom too.
