I was wondering if anyone is able to view powerpoint presentations using the cacko (or any other) ROM on the SLC860. I am unable to view presentations. I also noticed that the \"About\" on the Presentation application is copyrighted \'Sharp\' and not HancomLinux.
Is the HancomPresenter not part of the ROM image?
TIA,
Mike

Don\'t know about legal side (probably not) but I\'m sure I came across the install files for it on the web some time back. Did install ok on the C7xx/860.

You can either romburst an old Sharp ROM (one for the 5500) or you should be able to find the packages in one of the \'add-on packages\' zip files for something like the (original 5500) cacko ROM - also try tkc, etc. if this isn\'t the case.

I actually own a 5500 (son is using it now), and I was able to get the hancom package installed (they require a serial number from the 5500 to download). Thanks for the help!
I really don\'t know why it wasn\'t included with the 860 since with 640x480, its the first time that the ppt viewer would actually be usable!

Just guessing, but probably decided it did not display slides well enough to replace the real thing. Also probably somewhat slower than opening straight image files.
Included presentation appliation works very well (imho) with the VGA output card.
Hence better off with just saving powerpoint slides as image files. Powerpoint saves them all neatly to a directory for you anyway, so it is just a case of copying the directory across. Only annoyance I have is file name sequence. 10 appears before 9 etc. so you need to reorder it.
Also, they include ZaurusShot, so you could use that with powerpoint to generate files as well. Just flick through and printscreen as needed.

second and last post was me. Don\'t know why, but this is the only forum that keeps forgetting my login.

I have the Sharp Rom, but presumably this\'ll work on other Roms? I figured out how to use Presenter with Zaurus Shot even though I can\'t read my Japanese manual. The Zaurus Shot software installs a \'printer\' on your windows machine called \'zaurus\'. When you have the Z connected via USB, in PowerPoint, print it to the Zaurus printer. This downloads the entire powerpoint presentation to the Z and loads it into the Presenter Software. I guess you can do this with anything you can print. Kinda cool. I expect they are high resolution images to use with the VGA output device, so probably take up much more room on the Z than a ppt file. I may look into digging up the old Hancom Presenter from my 5600 to see how that works on C860.

Should work with the other Sharp based roms, not sure about other ROMs.
Forgot to mention the print option, really neat function.
Ae we are talking ZaurusShot, might as well mention the remaining function (T) I think. This copies text over to the Zaurus. Useful if you just want to grap some text for reference etc.
For better instructions, you could \"read\" the Japanese Acrobat file by copy pasting into something like altavista. Does work, I did it myself the other day to find out what the (T) function was for.
